Feb-01-03  popski: Huh, Doubrava didnt have luck with Pirc opening...
Apr-29-03  thesonicvision: black simply opened poorly...nothing impressive here.

Sneaky: Yes ...Nd7 certainly looks like a lemon, but it's rather shocking how it loses by force. I'm glad I saw this.
Apr-29-03  ari: i would like to play a game of chess now thank you
Apr-29-03  Xeeniner: For anyone having trouble seeing the win for white (like i did at first) moving 6. ...leads to 7. Qf3# is checkmate and 6. ...Ke8 7.Qf3 Nh6 8.Ne6 9.Nxd8 or more simply 6. ...Ke8 7. Ne6 8. Nxd8 leaves white with a winning advantage.

sisyphus: 2....♘d7 isn't a great idea, but it doesn't "lose by force." Black makes a couple of worse mistakes, starting with 4.... ♗g7. 4....♘b6 or 4....e6 could preserve what chances Black has.
Nov-15-04  EXIDE: Black looses his Queen to 7.Ne6 if Black King moves to either e8 or f8. If 6...,Kf6 7.Qf3+ mate. The trapping of the Black Queen is the highlight of this combination I think.
Nov-15-04  Marco65: I think Black'd better play 5...Kf8 6.Ng5 Ndf6 7.Be6 Qe8 [7...Nh6 8.Qf3 Ke8 9.e5 dxe5 10.dxe5 Nfg4 11.Nf7 Qd4 12.Bxc8 Rxc8 13.Nxh8 ] 8.Qf3 h6
Nov-15-04  Appaz: This one was rather easy, although I wasted a few seconds looking for a forced mate. Very useful to have seen this motive.
Nov-15-04  Nickisimo: "motif"...motive is the reason for doing something. But yeah, this one was relatively simple, and yet enjoyable.
Nov-15-04  Appaz: <Nickisimo> Ah, thanks to you I have a little bit more knowledge of the english language.
Nov-15-04  panigma: What if black simply does not take the bishop?
Nov-15-04  ChessPraxis: <panigma> It's best for Black not to take the Bishop but after 5. ... Kf8 Black is down a pawn and has lost the right to castle. I'd call that a winning advantage for White.
Nov-15-04  kevin86: Black has three options-all bad:

6...♔f8 7 ♘e6+ forks king and queen.
6...♔e8 7 ♘e6 smothers the queen in her own home.
And worst,6...♔f6 7 ♕f3 is checkmate!

Mark the case closed!

Nov-15-04  TonyOliva: Even if Black doesn't take the Bishop with 5. ...Kf8, 6. Ng5 still threatens to win the Queen with the fork on e6.
Nov-15-04  alexandrovm: this trap sounds something like "careful! It could happend to you" :)
Nov-15-04  fgh: Solved in 0.4 seconds.
Nov-15-04  Saruman: <TonyOliva> But then black can play Nb6 and guard e6, though he is still down a pawn, and is unable to castle.
Nov-15-04  mdorothy: Solved immediately, intuitively, and only half-sober.. confirmed by a second look in 2.2 sec. It's a beautiful idea, though.
Nov-15-04  briiian13: solved in 0.000148103 seconds.

;)

Nov-15-04  FearsomePawn: Isn't the move Bc4 by white bad in the pirc? I've had the bishop chased with tempo so many times. I guess it was the irregular move order.

But yeah Nd7?? is really a lemon.

Nov-15-04  pkjohn146: Wow, I even got this one, and I'm not even awake. Hope the next guy I play tries to emulate doubrava
Nov-15-04  Gregor Samsa Mendel: I hope the next guy I play forks over the dough like Dadian.
Dec-01-05  DeepBlade: <kevin86> said it all, look at his previous post.
Dec-14-05  DeepBlade: I would like to add this:
Blacks defence is way too passive.
