Jan-29-05  cheski: <acirce: What a position, almost every piece is standing where it has or almost has to stand. >

Very well summed up. But would it not have been better to leave the black Queen on Qg5 ? After shuffling the King to Kh7, what reply does White have other than say Qd3 or Qh4?

Jan-29-05  bernieno: I will be very impressed if Leko wins this one. It is more than 10 moves since he sacrificed his knight.
Jan-29-05  Catfriend: How about ..♘g5+ at certain stage? Might be winning!
Jan-29-05  Chris00nj: I still like Leko's position. He could be eyeing 42...h4 and 43..Qg3+
Jan-29-05  WillC21: i hope they dont repeat moves and draw!!!
Jan-29-05  jose manuel: h4? queen x h4 would follow if leko is gonna try something he should play Kingh7

Joshka: uhmm..maybe Leko's gonna grind out a win....
Jan-29-05  iron maiden: Darn, from the look of things so far I shouldn't have slept in today.
Jan-29-05  patzer2: After 42. Kh1, does Leko have anything better than a draw by repetition with 42...Qg6? The alternative 42. h4?! Qg6 doesn't good for Topalov.
Jan-29-05  bernieno: <Catfriend> I have been considerig that move too. Looks strong. But i am not sure if it is winning, can anyone check with a computer?
Jan-29-05  WillC21: How about Bb7 and then a knight sac for Leko? That would rip open the king and get two connected passers. Can you fellas make Fritz or crafty analyze that?
Jan-29-05  SCUBA diver: how can you stop Q-g6...Q-c2
Jan-29-05  arifattar: Doesnt' anyone like Ng4?
Jan-29-05  Catfriend: I do! I suggested it x posts ago. And I still do!
Jan-29-05  WillC21: I don't like Ng4 without first playing Bb7.
Jan-29-05  bernieno: That was the move i just talked about, looks very strong. It is not with check anymore though.
Jan-29-05  Catfriend: Why> It's protected now, while after its retreat, the last row would provide white with all sorts of defensive checks.
Jan-29-05  arifattar: <Catfriend> I think I did a few posts before you.
Jan-29-05  Catfriend: <ariffatar> Now I see you did! OK, the praise goes to you:)
Jan-29-05  arifattar: or the laughs <Catfriend>
Jan-29-05  WillC21: Catfriend it is protected now, but not once you play Ng4. That's why I suggest Bb7 and then Ng4.
Jan-29-05  Catfriend: <Will> Obviously, "now" reffered to the position after the sac. The bishop IS protected then.

Sneaky: Wow, it's over. Topalov navigated the maze, but Leko leads the tournament.
Jan-29-05  WillC21: Catfriend it appears I am blind :)
Jan-29-05  Catfriend: Pity... I hoped for an excellent combination to finish it. But it's sweet anyway!
