Jun-30-15  Howard: Wasn't aware until Commons died, that he once beat Browne !
Jul-08-15  jerseybob: Nice job by black's knights, first in defending against white's attack, and then in the counterattack helping to dynamite the white kingside open.
Jul-08-15  Howard: Big upset--no doubt about it. Commons was only 20 at the time, while Browne was already a grandmaster.
Jul-09-15  jerseybob: After winning the GM title, Browne continued to play in swisses, and lost to players even more low-rated than Commons.(Remember John Davidian for example?) If Browne had just stayed on the FIDE circuit, ala Fischer,he might've lasted longer. But as a full-time gaming pro he needed prize money.
Jul-19-20  Howard: Yes, he was supposed to have been an expert at poker, backgammon, and Scrabble.
