 | | HeMateMe: <What's the pun reference?> It's from a toilet paper TV commercial in the USA, in the 1970s. |

Mar-09-19 | | goodevans: <33...Rc8> would have prevented <34.Nd3>. After 33...Rc8 it's not clear whose attack will prevail or whether one or other will force a draw. Everything still to play for. <OrangeTulip: An ELO difference of 350. Pfff> Nepomniachtchi was only 15 or 16 at the time of this game so I doubt the rating difference was quite that big (unless you know differently). If it was then Sharma should be congratulated on what was a good display up until the last few moves. |

Mar-09-19 | | ACMEKINGKRUSHER: Howdy,
Just Checked the Game STATS and I found that these guys had the following Ratings...W Elo"2506",B Elo"2370"! Leaving a Rating difference of ONLY 236 pts. Looks like Amsterdam still sells a lot of GREAT drugs if you ask me! WHITE Still has a Nasty Edge though!

Mar-09-19 | | goodevans: How did <Izal®™> ever become a thing? After being troubled by it's incongruity for decades I've decided the most likely explanation is that someone first created an essentially useless product then tried to find a market for it. I imagine there were many failures before they struck it rich with school and other public conveniences. This theory helps put my mind at ease on the first question but nothing will ever remove the mental scars. |

It might be different elsewhere. |

Mar-09-19 | | OrangeTulip: <ACMEKINGKRUSHER>I don't know what we all sell in Amsterdam for great stuff, but is a lot. Your approach with stats is very dry.
Because a guy like Nepo in 2001 -16 years old- is in the flow towards the heights of a supergrandmaster, and therefore underrated.
And sorry FSR, I keep making comments on games of mediocre quality once and a while, because I did not subscribe on a literature/language site. |

Mar-09-19 | | thegoodanarchist: < jith1207: What's the pun reference?> Charmin is a brand of toilet paper. In the 1970s they had an advertisement campaign touting that Charmin was "squeezably soft" And a grocery store manager, Mr. Whipple IIRC, who admonished his customers <Please don't squeeze the Charmin!> |

 | | OhioChessFan: <OT> the reference to where <FSR> has heard it before was the pun reference which he got in ahead of me by a mere 6 years. When I first looked at his link, I just saw his kibitz and didn't notice that was the actual pun, too. I usually try out my pun ideas by a search, but alas, I tried "please squeeze", and the previous incarnation didn't have the "please" part. <jith: What's the pun reference? > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L50... |
