Nov-28-16 | | RookFile: All we need now is for Bobby Fischer to play ...Bxh2 to liven things up. :) |
Nov-28-16
 | | harrylime: This is the final game right ? |
Nov-28-16 | | jrredfield: The only advantage for White I see is its bishop is considerably more powerful. I don't think that's going to be enough unless Karjakin blunders badly. |
Nov-28-16 | | YouRang: This is the final game in classical time controls. |
Nov-28-16
 | | harrylime: <RookFile: All we need now is for Bobby Fischer to play ...Bxh2 to liven things up. :)> I'd give my Right Pawn for that just now. |
Nov-28-16 | | diceman: Draw of the Century! |
Nov-28-16 | | Sokrates: Yawh, drawn, mowing the lawn - is the world champion not interested in winning this match with serious chess? Is it all about "I am probably better than him in quicker games". Let's say he beats Karjakin 1:0 =3 in the rapids. What kind of honor would be in that "achievement"? Magnus, your predecessors were vikings, not sissies and accountants. |
Nov-28-16 | | cow: Remember when Carlsen used to play exciting chess? |
Nov-28-16
 | | Open Defence: quick draw |
Nov-28-16
 | | kamajiro: Another draw without penalty or glory |
Nov-28-16
 | | harrylime: Roulette wheel anyone? |
Nov-28-16 | | paavoh: What remains here is a good pun for the GOTD, eh? |
Nov-28-16 | | RookFile: Good thing this wasn't a baseball game. I'd be the one carrying drinks and hot dogs back to the seats, only to find the game was over. |
Nov-28-16 | | Thirups: Magnus have overconfidence or he underestimate karjakin!!lol...let see in rapids |
Nov-28-16 | | ealvarez: Some games with Chess960 for the next WC cycle? It would spice up things. This kind of game, at this level, is awful for the world of chess. |
Nov-28-16
 | | OhioChessFan: How much did the spectators pay per minute? |
Nov-28-16 | | YouRang: Again, this strategy of "playing for rapids" is avoided if the tiebreak was simply to let Carlsen remain the champion. As it is, Karjakin would also prefer his chances with rapids than having to win with black. It's a poor way to determine the classical chess champion, but it's what the rules allow. Blame the rules. |
Nov-28-16
 | | Open Defence: < paavoh: What remains here is a good pun for the GOTD, eh?> "Watching Paint draw.." |
Nov-28-16 | | beenthere240: And the spectators threw used condoms on the board! |
Nov-28-16
 | | Richard Taylor: Whose this Fischer? Was he any good at chess? |
Nov-28-16 | | LewisKing: Would have been better if they had just mutually agreed that neither one felt like competing today, and put the real game off until tomorrow. What a joke. |
Nov-28-16 | | sachman19: This match was fixed draw... |
Nov-28-16 | | peyote: Line from "Full Metal Jacket" springs to mind... |
Nov-28-16
 | | harrylime: Penalty shoot out it is ...
I love these short WC matches ..
I vote bringing it down to 6 games ...
Bobby would've loved that lol |
Nov-28-16
 | | OhioChessFan: Had a pun "First Blood". This was like "Last Dud". Maybe "New York Minute", although that might apply to a winning blitz game. |
