Jan-12-20  Pedro Fernandez: Where b5-Night gonna go, to a3? I'm some worried for Duda.

offramp: Cg.com has a guaranteed opposite-of-Midas Touch when it comes to choosing Live Games. This one is so SLOOOOW.
Jan-12-20  Pedro Fernandez: 10...0-0-0?! is not the best move (IMO), 10...c6 I think is better. Now Duda could play 11.Bxc4 preparing short castling.
Jan-12-20  Pedro Fernandez: Hey <OffRamp>, ten moves in one hour!
Jan-12-20  Messiah: Anand patzed himself successfully into a very dubious position.
Jan-12-20  Atking: 13...Nxf2! wins a pawn

moronovich: Seems that Rf1 is only move. With counterattack on f7 and some mess to follow….
Jan-12-20  Pedro Fernandez: <<Atking>: 13...Nxf2! wins a pawn> But 14.Rf1 <Atking>.

I think this check is more serious than a simple developing move. White has to be careful where he puts his king.

Jan-12-20  Count Wedgemore: Duda's king walk seems a bit reckless, if not downright suicidal. This may not end well..

White is becoming adventurous with his king.

I agree, <count>. But I like seeing young players taking chances and maybe learning something rather than playing safe all the time, Leko-style.

Jan-12-20  Messiah: Duda navigated himself into a terrible position. Congratz.
Jan-12-20  diceman: <Count Wedgemore: Duda's king walk seems a bit reckless, if not downright suicidal. This may not end well..>

Excuse me King, can you comment on what happened?

"I ran"

Jan-12-20  Count Wedgemore: <diceman> At least he didn't cowardly hide behind his subjects!

moronovich: I think that Duda will hold.
Jan-12-20  Count Wedgemore: Both players, having spent surprisingly a lot of time in the opening of this game, don't have very much time left until the time control. I don't think they will end up in zeitnot, though.
Jan-12-20  Pedro Fernandez: Well, until now <Atking> is right. Black owns a more pawn. Possibly white may get the draw due its king is quite active.
Jan-12-20  diceman: Firouzja has let just about all his advantage slip in this time scramble, probable draw.

Just to give you an idea of how old this line is in the QGA, it's called the, "McDonnell Defense."

MissScarlett: I knew he had a farm. Maybe it was bordered by defence.
Jan-12-20  diceman: A bit dangerous to commit to 38...g5 before the time control.

MissScarlett: Duda is slippery as an eel.

  perfidious: <Tata Steel Patzers>.

<Messiah> gets an automatic invite.

Jan-12-20  Messiah: In the meantime Giri tries to trick Fabiano in an endgame that is anything but simple. Caru had an interview before the WCC match in 2018, where he stated he solved a massive number of Dvoretsky endgame puzzles - will he get his draw easily? I think so. Not in a short game, but with a relative ease.
