I think a good case could be made that the Littleboy in question is actuall "A. L. Littleboy":

Though some caution is needed, as there are other chess-playing Littleboy's around.

Chessical: <Z truth 000000001> Mr. A. L. Littleboy is mentioned in the Norwich Mercury of Saturday 21st April 1877. The article reports a simultaneous exhibition by Steinitz whose opponents, "most of them", were members of the "Norfolk and Norwich Chess Club".

The Eastern Daily Press of Saturday 28th September 1872 also reports Littleboy "as one of our rising amateurs" playing against Zukertort in a simul organized by Norwich Chess Club.

The Eastern Evening News of Friday 14th January 1898 has A. L. Littleboy as an umpire in a telephone match against the (Isle of Wight).

The circumstantial evidence is strong that this is A. L. Littleboy.
