Sep-01-21  Zugzwangovich: Why is it that whenever I search for a game in which "So" is one of the opponents I get a message saying, "Sorry, no games at this time"? The same message appears whether I type "So", "so", "W So", "W so", "w So", or "w so". What am I doing wrong?

fredthebear: 28.QxRc6 would put White up a piece. See diagram:

28.QxRc6 would be disaster for White, because Black replies 28....QxQc6 and the overworked White rook cannot recapture because of the threat of back rank mate. 29.RxQc6?? Ra1+ and White's rook interpositions on the back rank are useless.

Thus, White played 28.Rbc3, allowing his queen to be taken 28...RxQc5. Since it was a blitz game, White continued on in a worse position.

Messiah, how did I beat you to this?

You need to use the pull-down menu.

For the life of me I never quite figured out why Daniel didn't fix this obvious flaw in the <CG> searching...

An accident of history, I suppose.

  saffuna: It won't recognize a two-letter name.
Sep-02-21  Z truth 000000001: Not just two-letter names, I think <THAN> fails for the same reason. Htun Htun Than

(Given as <Than, Htun Htun> in the <CG> player's directory)

Sep-04-21  Messiah: The search fields all over the internet are difficult (sometimes) to use, especially for the movie called M, and for the band called I.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M_(19...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_(ba...

And without saying an obligatory 'Ouch! :-)', if you start a game with 1.b4, don't be so mad if you eventually lose.

You can also search for "Wesley."

perfidious: That was the sidestep I chose once I realised the two-letter problem.
Sep-04-21  Z truth 000000001: Google searches aren't the same as a search inside a site with context.

Search for "M" on IMDB and you'll find "M (1931)" right at the top of the list of titles.

Search for "I" on AMG and you'll find the Norwegian band first on the list of bands.

Similarly, searching for "So" in the name field of <CG> should bring up Wesley at the top of the list.

Anything else is just an embarrassment, or an unnecessary work-around.
