Dionysius1: White has a slight edge, but there's still a lot to play for and all 3 results are possible. The time control is some way away, so we're not anticipating that to be a factor.

offramp: There's a win and a loss and a draw, and there's also LBW, hitting the wicket and obstructing the field.

jnpope: Draw in under 60 moves? Draw in under 50 moves? Draw in under 40 moves? Draw in under 30 moves? So many possibilities. I'm giddy with anticipation.

  Sally Simpson: Move 16. Qc2.

This is not going to be a draw. Nepo can go for a creeping attack. Save up the good moves and slow, slow and then Bang! Magnus will see it come and will roll the gambling dice to stop it.

Knightf7mate: To the contrary, the board looks very symmetric and hence few imbalances to obtain an advantage. At this point, early mid game, they are still in “book” based on computer sims. The stockfish analysis sees equality at 26 ply.

It is highly likely that this will be a draw.

<OCF> Thanks, I was wondering if anyone had tried taking the e-pawn.

The Queen went to c2 to avoid a Queen swap. Nepo has this one. Black is in a 'come and get me Zugzwang' White has all the ideas. He just has to bide his time and wait till Black either tries to bust out or is reduced to shuffling and waiting, watching White build up a glorious position. 1-0.

offramp: Carlsen prefers to sit at the table. Nepo walks around.

Knightf7mate: On that note, black’s bishop on back rank makes the rook on b file weak. Suppose white rook was on b1. Then Bxc7+ followed by Rxb8. So black needs to develop the bishop, perhaps to e6?

keypusher: So now what? 20 Nf5? Red1? White could use a third rook.
