 | | HeMateMe: hey the giants won!
Ben McAdoo: "They didn't play hard for ME!"
Poor Ben. He was out the door faster than Omarosa, Mooch, and Mike Flynn. |

 | | WannaBe: Once again, OAK failed to their greatest enemy. Second Half... Against Rams, allowed 23 pts in second half while scored 0 (13-33) Against Denver, allowed 20 while scoring 7 (19-20) Against Miami, allowed 21 points while scoring 10 (20-28) |

 | | HeMateMe: I can't believe these roughing the passer calls. You can no longer hit the quarterback even if you have left the ground while the qb is in his throwing motion. these aren't helmet to helmet hits, just pass rushers tackling the qb while he's still in throwing motion. From now on you don't 'sack' the quarterback, you shove him, you 'fluster' the quarterback. It's turning into flag football. What would Y.A. Title and Ray Nitschke say? |

 | | saffuna: <hmm><I can't believe these roughing the passer calls.> They are ridiculous. Basically a rusher cannot hit a QB from the front any more even half a second after he's released the ball. |
|
Sep-23-18
 | | HeMateMe: yes. it would seem that the pass rushers have to slow down and wait and see if the throw is a fake and only then make a tackle. It was Troy Aikman who said that taking contact out of football might hurt ratings, turn fans away. I think they've gone too far. You can't spear the quarterback with a helmet to helmet hit, but you should be able to *tackle* the guy. It's supposed to be a damn football game, after all. |

 | | HeMateMe: Adrien Petersen returns, to continue tormenting the green bay packers. People might have forgotten about him, out of football for a whole year, I think, over the child beating incident. Minny dumped him, he went to D.C., and had a big day against the packers. brett favre said A.D. was the best player in football, when he was the vikes qb 7 years ago. |

 | | saffuna: We need to have penalties for announcers.
The first should be an hour of silence for each time saying "Are you kidding me?" |

 | | saffuna: Really impressive TD celebration by two Niners in the third quarter today. Really nice. Unfortunately they were still behind 35-16. |

 | | HeMateMe: Also, Joe Buck needs to be fined $10k (give it to the NFL retirement fund) every time he calls Troy Aikman "The Hall of Famer!" We know who he is, Joe. |

Also, "It's a one-possession game." In both football and basketball. |

 | | HeMateMe: I'm glad that the Sunday night halftime show looked at Clay Mathews being flagged (for the third straight week) for a late hit and definitively said it was a bull shid call. He made sure the contact wasn't helmet to helmet, just a simple tackle. It IS football, after all. |

 | | saffuna: Here we are, September 23, all teams with seven or eight games remaining, and ZERO tension or excitement until the postseason starts. Can you ever remember that happening when there were four divisions and only the four winners advanced to the postseason? By my count, between 1969 and 1993 (the four-team postseason era) 1970, 1976, 1986 and 1992 were the only years at least one division winner wasn't still in doubt going into the final weekend. |

 | | HeMateMe: Patrick Mahomes! 13 TD passes in the first 3 games--an NFL record. I'd like to see Andy Reid win a super bowl--he's due. don't remember there being this much interest in a rookie quarterback since dan marino. Marino came in like a tornado, was in the SB in his second year, then never got a whiff of the super bowl again. |

 | | plang: <saffuna: Here we are, September 23, all teams with seven or eight games remaining, and ZERO tension or excitement until the postseason starts.> The Dodgers have only one game advantage in the loss column over the Rockies (the Cardinals have the identical advantage over the Rockies for the 2nd Wild Card). The Rockies finish with a 7 game home stand while the Dodgers have 6 on the road. |

 | | saffuna: OK, you're right. And Cubs-Milwaukee is still close, too. Still doesn't seem too exciting. Maybe because AL seems to have all the top teams. |

 | | chancho: I'm telling you guys: Tiger Woods is still good enough to win a few majors. Winning the Tour Championship after that five year drought was huge for him. |

 | | saffuna: If you drive the ball in the fairway over and over, you can win tournaments. Driving accuracy is a key, a big key, to low scoring. (And lack of it drove me away from golf.) |

 | | Penguincw: < saffuna: Here we are, September 23, all teams with seven or eight games remaining, and ZERO tension or excitement until the postseason starts. > It's not quite 2011 drama, but the NL races still seem exciting. In the AL, OAK has a magic number of 1 to clinch a postseason trip, with 6-7 games to go. It's gonna happen. And when it does, all 5 spots will be secured. HOU will likely win the div, NYY will likely host the WC against OAK. The NL is where all the races are. 1st place in the NL is just 4.5 games ahead of the 2nd wild card spot. Everyone thinks the AL winner will dominate the NL winner, and I think so too. But anything can happen in a 7 game series. Interestingly, the NL is actually leading (if not had already won) interleague play, 147-133. Oh, and FTR. Entering the final 7 days of the regular season in 2016, the smallest division lead was 5.5 games. It was all Wild Card races. |
