Jul-09-04 | | Lawrence: <roses4donna>, this is a site for studying games and kibitzing, not for playing, but if you look on the "homepage" you'll find a list of places where you can play. |

May-12-05 | | SilverRook2000: Are you the Marty Appleberry that used to be friends with Alan Kobernaut many long years ago? When Alan moved to Chicago he played with us at the Park Forest Chess Club and he used to mention you frequently. |
May-13-05 | | soberknight: <SilverRook2000> I don't know if Mr. Appleberry reads these comments. This is not, strictly speaking, his website. However, you can safely assume that the number of people in the world named Martin Appleberry is very, very small. :) |
May-13-05 | | MoonlitKnight: Mmmm, appleberry. Sounds juicy. |
May-13-05 | | MoonlitKnight: I know what you're thinking, but I didn't mean it like that! |

Dec-21-12 | | eleaticus: Yes, Marty's mother lived in Huntsville. I knew him and lived with him in Atlanta during the days of the hippy migration to that area. He played at the Aurora Methodist Youth Center and the Stein Club, both on Peachtree Street. When he first showed up I staked him to a tourney entry; he won, and I played my first tourney. Later he drove/delivered for UPS, and married and moved to California (in whatever order). Definitely NOT a Frenchman. When I checked the USCF today, they showed a top rating of 2394; strange in a way because his mother told me he had given up chess! |
Dec-21-12 | | eleaticus: Oh. He played 1. e4, although I played a Benko against him once. |
Dec-21-12 | | Shams: Family dog is Bugsy Dingleberry. Lovely labrador with a notable shaven patch. |
