There's no doubt he'll be enjoying this revival, but such a pity it's just going to remain a holiday pastime. His potential is as big now as ever it was. |

With his rating at 2660 and many players rated 2200, 2300, 2400, he should have chalked up a good number of wins, but drew most of the games. It admittedly must be anoying playing in a tournament with lots of players rating much lower than you, as you have to win more games to maintain the same rating, but he really should have steamrolled many of the lower graded players who he drew against. |

No doubt it helps that he lives in a country where he can get a single game against a strong opponent pretty much whenever he wants to. |

Mathew is the 'World Colour Chess' Champion. (I had no idea what that was either). Basically, you have two moves each every turn. The board has many different colours, if you move to a blue square your opponent must move to a blue square. Then you opponent makes another move to any colour of square he likes, you must then copy the colour move and make a move of your choice. Normal chess rules apply.
