Feb-04-08  weisyschwarz: Maybe she meant to say "I like eating at salons."
Feb-06-08  Riverbeast: < Maria Manakova:`I like eating bishops!` to be totaly correct she says "I like eating elephants". (thats how the bishop is called in russian)>

I'm not even going to touch that one

HeMateMe: She's attractive, but I doubt she'll be strapping on the wings at Victorias Secret anytime soon. There's a cheesecake photo of her, in a sort of bad girl 1950s style over on chess.com.

I'm still hoping Edward Winter will publish those reportedly secret photos of Bogolubov in the buff....

May-08-11  BLarsen1967: Not so long ago Maria Manakova was busy trying to make a 'name' for herself, doing some sexy stunts that must've sent Magnus Carlsen go blushing in the corner. Personally I didnt mind her antics, except to say,of course the mysterious Zsofia Polgar is 10 times more beautiful --- Anyway, let's not forget that actually Maria is a real fine player,it's good to see that she now focuses on serious chess, she did quite well in the recent Serbian Champ.(w) where she scored 8 out of 11 http://www.chess-results.com/tnr477... - I believe Maria M. can take it far, she's got The Will
Dec-07-11  polarmis: There's a new long interview (with photographs) of Maria Manakova here: http://www.whychess.org/node/3215

It includes an "interesting" explanation for why she did so badly in Russian Championship Superfinal (Women) (2009) :)

Dec-07-11  Shams: <polarmis> I have to say, her story of sleeping with her opponent within an hour after the conclusion of the game was hot.
Dec-15-11  dx9293: <Shams> I agree!

About the Superfinal <Polarmis> mentioned...OMG. Usually I'm not into such "open" women, but spending such quality time with the passionate Manakova must be a pleasant experience!

Feb-03-12  wordfunph: from Chess Life February 2012..

<"I made a move. I didn’t go with my king to the corner, I went to the center, and my ex-husband thought, ‘Oh, she’s so brave.’ He fell in love with me immediately, because in this move was my character, my wish to be with him. Maybe I didn’t want to show it, but maybe I wanted him to win a little bit. I surrendered myself to him. He liked that.">

- WGM Maria Manakova (describing her first game against ex-husband Serbian grandmaster Miroslav Tosic)

Feb-10-13  stanleys: Great show by Manakova, commenting her win from the last round of the Moscow Open: http://chess-news.ru/node/11078

paulalbert: An interesting personality, a decent chess player, and also a nice looking lady. I had to laugh when she took so long to find the game score in her pocketbook; it reminded me of women I know who can never find anything since they have so much in their pocketbooks.
Apr-02-13  whiteshark: WGM Maria Manakova wins the 2013 Serbian Women Chess Championship which was held from 23rd March to 2nd April at the Hotel Gali in Pirot. <Congratulations>

She justified the top rated position and won the Championship with 8,0/11 points. This is her first national title.
