Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-03-03  Bears092: As I said a few days ago, this guy is the coach of one of my high schools main chess rivals.

We have a match against them this Friday.

In case some of you don't know, our team matches consist of the top 8 boards of both teams playing each other. Whoever wins the board 1 matchup gets 12 points, board 2 gets 11, board 3 gets 10, and so on. If there's a draw, the points are split.

So far this season, both my school and his are undefeated. I play 3rd board for our team, and I played their first board earlier this year in a rapid tournament (45/0), and battled him to what should have been a draw, but I dropped a piece in time pressure. However, they graduated 4 of their top 8 boards last year, while we gained a freshman to play board 5 for us. So this should be an easy win, right? Not quite. Our first board player (1800+ strength) will not be in attendance for the match. So everyone on our team will have to move up a board to accomodate the loss.

I'll give you guys the results as they come.

Apr-19-05  lopium: Still waitting for the results.
Apr-19-05  hintza: Don't fret, he will give us the results as they come. It might be a couple more years yet, but <Bears092> won't let us down! Having said that, I am somewhat doubtful that he will post anything here ever again. His last post was in November!
Apr-19-05  yoozum: Yeah, I too want to find out what happened. This is partially because my high school team is the champion of our league in Massachusetts.
Apr-22-07  Bears092: We got crushed by them pretty bad (only taking a couple games out of the 8), but we got the last laugh at the end of the season. We finished 10th overall in the state, and they got 15th. (Both being very good results in a competitive state)

I always follow through on my promises.
