Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-05-07  John Thornton: N.B. I am not this player.
Jul-06-07  John Thornton: Here's my namesake in action:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHLg...

I suggest that any man wishing to get in the good books of his mother, sister, wife or significant other should buy them a copy of this series on DVD.

Nov-21-13  MarkThornton: John Thornton was born in Bradford, Yorkshire, but has lived for many years in Wales.
Mar-18-21  Nosnibor: The first game shown here against Curdo must relate to an American player with the same name.
Mar-18-21  Z truth 000000001: <Nosnibor> are you sure? It was a correspondence game.
Mar-18-21  Nosnibor: <Z truth 000000001> 99% certain.Look at the facts: 1 All of Curdo`s other correspondence games are against American based players. 2 If this was the English Thornton then he would only be 9 years of age at the commencement of this game. 3 Finally why would a player of Curdo`s standing be playing a boy of this age who would probably only have a grade of say 1000.
Mar-18-21  Z truth 000000001: Oh, I was neglectful in not checking out Thornton's age. Sorry.

Maybe later I'll try to find the American Thornton.

Mar-18-21  Z truth 000000001: Here's mention of <J.A. Curdo> in a postal tournament (p313) along with a <Thornton> (p317):

In June 1959 (p188) we finally get a mention of <G.B. Thornton> playing postal - which is most likely our man (not) in Havana.
