Mar-04-14  Caissanist: Eberlein did not just "help out in key matches" in the 1976 National Chess League, he virtually carried the Plumbers team. His overall score was something ridiculous like 8 1/2 - 1/2, far better than anyone else in that event.

perfidious: <Caissanist> It is curious indeed that Ginsburg should thus characterise Eberlein's brilliant performance; while I did not recall his exact score, I remember that he more than 'helped' them to the title.

Phony Benoni: Robert Byrne's colunn for July 13, 1976, mentions that Eberlein's final score was 7.5-0.5, and gives his win over John Fedorowicz. I'll submit that, and see if I can find some others.
Jan-20-16  TheFocus: Happy birthday, Robert Eberlein.
