Born in Moscow, from Armenian Parents.

He scored 5.5/10 for his team's top board at the 2014 World youth team chess Olympiad. In February 2018, Paravyan participated in the Aeroflot Open tournament. He finished eleventh out of 92, scoring 5½ points from 9 games (+4–2=3). The following year, Paravyan competed in Isle of Man Grand Swiss (2019) 10 to 21 October. He finished tenth with a score of 7/11 (+4–1=6) for a performance rating of 2774. He won Gibraltar Masters (2020) January 2020. After tying for first on a score of 7.5/10 (+5–0=5), Paravyan won a four-way playoff to take the title. He beat Wang Hao in the finals.

In the summer of 2021 he participated in the World Cup (2021) in Sochi, Russia where he first eliminated Mohamed Tissir 2-0 and then also eliminated Alexander Onischuk by the same score. In the next elimination match it took Maxime Vachier-Lagrave a ninth game (armageddon with black) to break a tie after eight games, and win their match.
