RAGUL PILLAY
(born 1994) Seychelles
[what is this?]The game K Meier vs A Niyibizi, 2014 at the Chess Olympiad (2014) match between Rwanda and Seychelles had an unusual ending for both teams. Another player might have been in contention for a Candidate master title as a result of the team standings in the round, but team captain Maxence Murara of Rwanda "chose to sacrifice two games as loses in a gesture of goodwill to Seychelles, a decision which did not go down well with his teammates (1)." Links to G Kabera vs P Meier, 2014 (1st board; see 1st link above for 2nd board), M Murara vs Ragul Pillay, 2014 (3rd board) and B Hoareau vs A Ruzigura, 2014 (4th board) were the other games of that final round.
