Mar-30-24  Rdb: This is the draw that cost Arjun erigaisi 4.2 rating points in grenke open

<GM Arjun Erigaisi was held to a draw by promising Romanian talent - 12-year-old FM Henry Edward Tudor. The game reached at a queen vs rook and knight endgame after 34 moves. The boy defended for 102 moves and built a fortress to claim an important half point>

MissScarlett: According to my calculations, he's 236th in line for the British crown.
Mar-30-24  Rdb: British crown ?

Let me check with Gemini.google.com

<No, Henry Edward Tudor is very unlikely to be in line for the British crown, even at a distant position like 236th. Here's why:

* **The Tudor Dynasty Ended in 1603:** Queen Elizabeth I, the last Tudor monarch, died childless in 1603. The crown then passed to James VI of Scotland, who became James I of England. * **Succession Laws Prioritize Direct Descendants:** The British line of succession prioritizes direct descendants of the monarch. Since the Tudor dynasty ended centuries ago, Henry Edward Tudor wouldn't be considered a direct descendant. * **Official Line of Succession is Public:** The official line of succession is a public document. You can find it on the official website of the British Monarchy [https://www.royal.uk/encyclopedia/s....

Even though Henry Edward Tudor shares the name "Tudor," it's likely a coincidence and wouldn't grant him a claim to the throne. >

MissScarlett: A Tudor rose by any other name would smell as sweet. All these dynasties were intermarried and intermingled.

keypusher: How on earth is there a Romanian boy named Henry Edward Tudor?

beatgiant: It doesn't mean they are some lost branch of British aristocracy, it's just a Romanian variant of "Theodore."

But maybe not just Romanian, since there was an English dynasty called Tudor? And what about Henry Edward?

beatgiant: I don't think the English Tudor is derived from Theodore, but maybe one of our British kibitzers can answer that part. Again, I don't think the Romanian Tudors have any direct relationship with them.

The first and middle names here look anglicized. Henrik or Henri, and Eduard I think are typical in Romanian.
