Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-19-11  BobCrisp: A forgotten man of English chess. A photo of the English Olympiad team, at Helsinki 1952, shows him to be a smartly dressed man with a moustache and glasses. Standing next to him is the 18 y-o <Jonathan Penrose> who looks absolutely hideous in one of the worst fitting trouser-jacket combinations I've ever seen.
Sep-24-12  Nosnibor: The following game which is not in the db. is probably one of Horne`s best.White:A.R.B.Thomas Black; D.M.Horne Kings Gambit Played in the Premier Reserves 1948/49 1e4 e4 2f4 exf4 3 Nf3 g5 4Bc4 Bg7 5d4 d6 60-0 h6 7c3 Be6 8Bxe6 fxe6 9e5 Nc6 10Qg3 Qd7 11d5 Nxe5 12Qxb7 Qc8 13Qb5+ c6 14dxc6 Qxc6 15Nd4 Nf3+ 16 Resigns 1-0
Jan-17-16  Nosnibor: Dennis Horne passed away 3rd May 2015,aged 94.Official notification by the E.C.F. only just released.
Aug-29-22  Nosnibor: He was the only player to beat Yanofsky in the first round of the British Championship of 1953. After this game Yanofsky virtually crushed all opposition with 9.5/10!
