FSR: It's a shame that CG.com's database has no games by anyone named Chitty. Had such a player played Bang, their game could be <Chitty Chitty Bang Bang>. I see that one of Bang's games has already been GOTD as <Big Bang>. I have proposed <Bang! You're Dead> for E Bang vs M Umansky, 1995. Unfortunately, this guy plays way too quietly to make such puns, e.g. <Going Out With a Bang>, appropriate for many of his games. His idea of a wild sacrificial attack is giving up an exchange for a pawn.

It doesn't appear that he was. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_... Are you Trolling? :-)

Phony Benoni: <FSR> We really need him to draw against someone named Eliot and bring in the <Not with a bang, but with a whimper> bit. He does have two short draws with Elwert, but that's not good enough.

The last thing this database needs is a chessplayer named "Chitty". Of course, if we could Rogoff the page and keep all the off-color jokes there, it might be worth it.

Hmm, somehow the, er, difficulties with the name "Chitty" hadn't occurred to me. I suppose that all of us have played quite a few "Chitty" games.

WannaBe: Someone can find a game, where Bang went off theory, or developed a new theoretical line.

Then the pun would be "The Big Bang Theory"

Dec-27-14  whiteshark: <WannaBe: <The Big Bang Theory>> for E Bang vs M Umansky, 1995 (20.Bxh6!!)

WannaBe: Great <whiteshark>. Go ahead and submit that!!
Dec-28-14  whiteshark: <WannaBe> Done. If this will ever be chosen, it'll probably be the 1st joint pun team work. ;)
Dec-28-14  whiteshark: "Erik Bang (born October 25, 1944) has been an ICCF international master since 1974 and a grandmaster since 1979; he also played many times for Denmark 'over the board'. His wins in strong CC tournaments include the Canadian 60th Jubilee tournament and best result on top board in 8 th Correspondence Olympiad Final. He was runner-up in the 13th World Championship and before that in the Axelson Memorial. "
