Apr-15-05  Karpova: Is there any relationship between this guy and the "real" karpov? maybe his son?
Apr-15-05  hintza: Will the "real Karpov" please stand up...

tpstar: All the other Slim Shadys are just imitating ...
Apr-15-05  hintza: For the record, I DO NOT like Eminem.
Apr-15-05  WMD: Karpov did have a son in the 1970s with a rather statuesque and formidable looking blonde. I don't think his name was Alexander though.
Apr-16-05  Karpova: He is not Karpov's son.

IM Alexander Karpov from Uzbekistan. Birthday: 1959-06-16 Current rating: 2327

There are quite a few Karpovs:
Alexey, Igor, Andrey Ivan., Petr, Vadim and Viktor.

Jun-20-05  Fritzin: So Alexander Karpov of 'Think Like a GM' is not the father to Anatoly Karpov who Fischer was afraid of losing to?
Jun-20-05  maoam: <Fritzin>

The author of "Think Like a Grandmaster" was actually Alexander Kotov. Your question is unanswerable anyway, as you assume that Fischer was afraid of losing to Karpov and there is no proof of that.

Oct-29-06  Brown: There is some belief that Fischer was "afraid" to lose at anyone (not Karpov particularly), so "scared" that he nearly never lost when he played, and gave no one the chance to beat him after he became champ.

Some belief, of course...

Oct-29-06  shr0pshire: From the Cap D'Agde 2006 tournament it says that Alexander Karpov's rating is 2650+. Seems to be a little different than the 2350+ which chessgames says is his highest rating.
Jan-20-10  waddayaplay: Anatoli Karpov played in Cap D'Agde in 2006.

<Karpov's son> I do wonder about Karpov's family, have not been able to find information. Is he married? Children?
