Telemus: In a tiebreak played between December 1943 and May 1944, Dr Herbert Taube won the city championship of Bremen against Carl Johan Margot Carls with +2, =4.

In the chronicle of the Bremer Schachgesellschaft Hanno Keller reported the following (p. 444):

<Mit Dr. Herbert Taube ( 27. 1. 1904 in Riga geboren ), von Beruf Chemiker, trat kein Unbekannter die Nachfolge des Bremer Stadtmeisterpaares Carls/Dr. Antze an.

Some kind of translation: <Dr. Herbert Taube (born January 27, 1904 in Riga), a chemist by profession, followed the Bremen city master couple Carls / Dr. Antze. Already in 1924 he was a participant of the Niederelbier Chess Festival in Bremen (see p. 207). Before he moved to Bremen in 1939, he was a member of the Hamburg chess club and has repeatedly fought there with Heinicke, Wagner, Krüger, Schönmann, Rodatz, Woehl, to name but a few of the strongest players, for the club championship; In 1934 he shared with Heinicke the 1st and 2nd place before Rodatz, Schneider, O. Junge and Krüger. A year later he beat Swedish champion Karlin in a match over two games with 1 1/2: 1/2. Dr. Taube participated with respectable successes in Hamburg and German tournaments and crowned his chess career in 1937 with the victory in the Nordmark championship. The "courageous and powerful tactical attacking player", as Brinckmann called him ("Erster Kongreß des Großdeutschen Schachbundes in Pyrmont 1933", S. 71), earned the 3rd national prize among 16 participants at the 1st National Main Tournament of the Greater German Chess Federation in Altona-Bahrenfeld in 1933 (see also p. 333) behind Heinicke and H. Herrmann and played here one Glanzpartie, which received the brilliancy prize.>

I will submit the game (Taube vs von Hennig).

Telemus: On 10 April 1937, Berlin and Hamburg played a telegraph match on ten boards. Taube played on board 3 with Sämisch a heavy positional game and Sämisch lost on time. But the win was probably not undeserved. Did this game survive?
Sep-04-20  whiteshark: Hermann Heemsoth wrote that <Dr.> Herbert Taube died end of March 1980 and published three more of his attacking games: http://bremersg.de/app/download/581... (so far not in this collection)
Aug-14-21  Chessist: Died 28 March 1980 - personal communication with H. Heemsoth.
