May-18-20  wordfunph: "The world was shutting down, but chess went online and it continued to exist in some sort of alternate, virtual reality. We knew online chess from before, but serious online chess? Was that even possible? Isn’t it just an oxymoron?"

- GM Aleksandar Colovic

Oct-30-21  cro777: Colovic's first book "The Sinquefield Chess Generation – Young Guns at Work!" was recently published.

Colovic: "The idea was to write about the best players in the USA born at the turn of the century."

plang: Colovic has come out with a book on Capablanca's endgame technique? Anyone have any experience with anything else he has written?

Stonehenge: <In a welcome initiative, New in Chess is ensuring that potential buyers of Capablanca’s Endgame Technique by Alex Colovic will not expect historical accuracy. Two helpful measures have been to post online not only the Preface, with its many elementary errors (including two on page 9 with ‘He died on 7 March 1942 at the age of 54’), but also a self-sabotaging podcast interview.>

Oct-16-24  Olavi: While Winter's note applies to a great many books nowadays, it misses the point. The book is not about giving information about Capablanca. Yes, it is regrettable that elementary mistakes and errors keep getting printed; on the other hand, a reviewer who doesn't understand what a book is about is not up to his job.
