May-27-05 | | percyblakeney: I’m celebrating my chessgames.com birthday here, and take the opportunity to say cheers to <Hesam7> and everyone else! I’m off for a while, take care, friends! :-) |
May-27-05
 | | cu8sfan: Happy birthday, <percyblakeney>, and be back soon! |
May-27-05 | | aw1988: Congrats to <Gregor Samsa Mendel>, <Hesam7>, and happy birthday to <percyblakeney>! |

May-27-05
 | | WannaBe: 400th!! Everyone should celebrate their milestone posting here. |
May-27-05 | | aw1988: Congrats <WannaBe>! Phew, I'm tired congratulating everyone. :P |
May-27-05 | | maoam: <Apparently people over here are getting too drunk.> Including me, I'm completely pissed. Woooo 640th post |
May-27-05 | | aw1988: OK, let's stick to celebrating only on prime numbers or something. :P |
May-27-05
 | | Sneaky: Here's something you don't see every day. Chess... and lap dances! http://weird-websites.com/ColtnessC... |
May-28-05
 | | WannaBe: <aw1988> Prime numbers aye? So, let's see, 1, 3, 7, 11, 13, 17th post? 8-) |
May-28-05 | | Akavall: <Sneaky> Interesting link! <WannaBe> 1 is not a prime number ;) |
May-28-05 | | Catfriend: And you didn't mention poor 2 and 5:) |
May-28-05
 | | WannaBe: <Akavall> Yes it is.
A prime number is a number that is only divisible by 1 and itself. |
May-28-05
 | | WannaBe: <Catfriend> Okay, okay, you got me there... Been hanging around this page too long.. *Hick* <maoam> must be not from the states, no one here use pissed to mean drunk. 8-) |
May-28-05 | | Akavall: If I remember my math correctly, prime number has to be divisible by 2 numbers; 1 and itself. 1 is only divisible by 1 number, because 1 and itself is a same thing. Therefore it is not a prime number. |
May-28-05 | | Catfriend: <Wannabe> - <Akavall> is 100% correct! 1 is not a prime number, and he explained that in a good way. The point is "1 AND itself", implying (though perhaps not too clearly) that these should be two different numbers. Of course, it could be interpreted in other ways, but it's agreed in math not to consider 1 as a prime number. |
May-28-05
 | | WannaBe: According to what I have found out (I was taught 1 is a prime number, that is how old I am) Both definitions are correct. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&... |
May-28-05
 | | Sneaky: I'm talking lap dances here, and all you nerds can do is talk about prime numbers? Sheesh... |
May-28-05 | | Hesam7: 1 is definitely not a prime number since it is a unit. |
May-28-05
 | | WannaBe: Okay, next subject, given Hydra, how soon can it find the next largest prime number... 8-) |
May-28-05 | | Hesam7: <WannaBe> This is real though. As far as I know Hydra's hardware is especialized for chess. Beside that the largest prime number known is: 2^(25,964,951) - 1 which has 7,816,230 digits! This type of prime numbers are callled Mersenne primes. For more info visit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mersen...
There are lots of links to other types of prime numbers and number theory in general. |

May-28-05 | | Catfriend: http://mathworld.wolfram.com/PrimeN...
is a great place to find some information about primes! |
May-28-05 | | Catfriend: My mile-post! 1852 meters in a mile! |
May-28-05
 | | WannaBe: <Hesam7, Catfriend> Yes, I read about that in the last issue of Dr. Dobb's. |
