Nov-06-09 | | Karpova: <Eric Schiller: As for the termite Hansen, he just didn't like my idea of using the words of Frankenstein and Dracula to annotate the games and analysis in my book. That's like criticizing Life of Brian because it insults the church. Still, to anyone who actually plays the opening, it was a very useful little book. But of course he was paid by Hanon Russell, who was boycotting my books. Reviews at his "chess cafe" usually had one of his paid authors praising an author he published or attacking others.> Source: Eric Schiller |

Apr-06-10 | | A Karpov Fan: Karpov has two good books on the Caro-Kann out, so maybe not that rare? |
|
Apr-06-10 | | FHBradley: "By far the worst book I've ever seen" is what the termite Hansen has to say about Schiller's book on the Frankenstein-Dracula variation. Not nice words but it makes for fun reading (the review, I mean). Judging by the review, the book is quite extraordinary, and not just for its use of the Frankenstein-Dracula prose in game annotations. |

Apr-06-10 | | acirce: I think one does well to remember what Schiller thinks should be done with "termites": <Such publications are enablers of termites, the useless insignificant losers who have nothing better to do than criticise those with talents their targets possess but they lack. The cowards hide in the tubes of the Internets and pray they are never discovered. If they appear in public they might get the beatings they so richly deserve.> |

Mar-09-12 | | whiteshark: Quote of the Day
It is quite rare that we find a world class player writing a book about an opening that can still be found in his repertoire. ~- Carsten Hansen
Well, Tal♔ about the obvious:
* The number of <world class players> is limited. * The number of <world class players> writing a chess book is more limited * The number of <world class players> writing a chess opening book is yet smaller. So fnd finally we got:
* <It is quite rare that we find a world class player writing a book about an opening that can still be found in his repertoire.

Feb-16-13 | | cpwken: This is quite funny! With the possible exception of the 2 games from Gausdal 1990 none of the games on this page are actually Carsten Hansens, they're mostly played by Curt Hansen |
|
Sep-05-17 | | Arconax: The problem <cpwken> is referring to seems to have been fixed. The games currently displayed are Carsten's games. |
