Feb-29-04  Hidden Skillz: i just seen 2 of his games he played on chess fm..it would be good if somebody could post em..
Feb-29-04  Javier Martinez JR: hey play me
Mar-28-05  JustAFish: Tonight, at 9:00 EST, 1:00 AM GMT, we find out whether or not Dennis Monokroussos was given a lucky peek into one of the great secret moments in chess history, or is just pulling a fast one. Tune in to playchess.com to find out!
Mar-28-05  hintza: Can you watch it as a guest? Oh wait, forget it, 01:00am is a little late for me!
Mar-28-05  kakt: IF this is really true, for chess fans like me, it is the holy grail. If not, he fooled us well.
Mar-28-05  Assassinater: Audio has never worked for me for some reason. I'm logged on as a guest, I have WMP10, and I've at least reloaded it a dozen times over to try and get the audio to work in the past. Anyone have any idea why?
Mar-28-05  Assassinater: Well, son of a... Saidi-Fischer, colors reversed and board flipped. And another one with Karpov. Nice April's Fools joke, though some people didn't quite see the humor.
Mar-28-05  Phoenix: Anybody get to see Dennis's lecture on the Karpov-Fischer informal game(s)? If so, do you remember it and can you give us the moves? Or would that be violating copyright laws or such?
Mar-28-05  Backward Development: Dennis collaborated two games, one with Fischer and another with Karpov in which the same position was reached with opposite colors and combined them into the two games. the links are in the KC.

cu8sfan: O how very clever... Everybody here knew it wasn't for real, right!?
Mar-28-05  kakt: Eventhough I had the inkling all along that this is just a bogus game, I was hoping that I was wrong. Dennis knows anything else would be snobbed, but this is too good to miss(even if all our senses go against it) and snob at! You've done it Dennis! You've fooled us.
Mar-28-05  iron maiden: <cu8sfan> I think most people were at least considerate of the possibility that the game was a fake. I'm a little surprised chessbase went this far (then again I've been saying that a lot lately).
Mar-29-05  hintza: Whoever it was said we should <send angry emails to ChessBase> had a point!
Mar-29-05  AdrianP: <Assassinater> <Audio has never worked for me for some reason> I think there may be some problem with the Chessbase Media System and WMP10. Mine stopped working when I upgraded to WMP10 so I rolled back and it continues to work fine with WMP9. I remember reading somewhere that this is a known issue and Chessbase are working on a fix.

ray keene: my opinion of this character just fell thru the floor-april fools day is one thing -aprils fools week doesnt exist except in this guys fevered imagination.i dont think this was funny at all. if his excuse is that his radio show is only on mondays then he cd have asked chessbase for permission to publish his wonderfully clever idea as an article on april 1-then we cd all have had a good laugh instead of being awake at unearthly hours -in march-waiting for a pile of***
Mar-29-05  azaris: Now now Ray, don't sweeten it up, tell us what you really think.

ray keene: unprintable!! not for a family website---
Mar-29-05  Kajtek: I agree, there's no such thing as april fools week
Mar-29-05  Backward Development: regarding the joke, Dennis has published a write-up on cb.com

<http://chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp...;

I agree there's no such thing as 'April Fool's Week', but with regard to staying up until 4 am, I think you should have taken the story with a grain of sand.

Mar-29-05  Phoenix: Hardy har, har, har, Dennis. I hope I get a chance to play you in a tournament, someday...

>:-)

Mar-29-05  Knezh: Yep, this joke does show Monokroussos as somenoe with plenty of attitude.
Mar-30-05  Morphy Fan: plenty of attitude - no class, no integrity and willing to yank people around to try and get ratings.

in retrospect, people say it was obvious - but comeon, the most silly part of the story (Fischer in a van riding around Vegas) turns out to be true...that is if anything this "person" says is true.

Easy to be seen as a joke - no, because this is Fischer after all!!

Mar-30-05  Dustin J.: <Morphy Fan> I agree! The reason I downed a shaker of salt everytime my dreams at the thought of a real game was the backstory. Why would Fischer be in a van, in '87 with Filipino GMs before he fled the US, it doesn't seem logical? Yeah, I was hoping, I even downloaded chessbase to watch, but got distracted and said, if it's true it'll be up in about an hour anyway, so I left. It was a good choice in retrospect.
Mar-30-05  mack: You know, I could have sworn April Fools day jokes were meant to be funny. Maybe it's an Amerian thing.
Mar-30-05  Phoenix: No, mack, it's not an American thing. Most Americans celebrate April Fool's Day on April 1 just like everyone else.

It's our chessplayers you have to watch out for.
