Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-09-05  Karpova: Elena Sedina (ITA) won the Australian 2005 Open Championship (the first woman ever!) with 8.5/11.

Born in 1968
Titles: IM, WGM

Mar-09-05  checkpat: I think that women have better claim
to equality in chess than that!
Very sad for Australia that the National
competition is won by somebody under 2500
Mar-09-05  Open Defence: probably coz the notable Australian players represented other countries ?

<I think that women have better claim to equality in chess than that!>
it's a great success for sedina. i didn't talk about female chessplayers in general.

<Very sad for Australia that the National competition is won by somebody under 2500>
why? she deserves this success. there have been strong GMs like Kengis

Sep-05-08  sonia91: Today she won against Hou Yifan (!).
Jun-01-10  weisyschwarz: Buon compleanno, Elena!
Dec-17-14  waustad: She plays in many team events. I was wondering if she had moved to Germany because of her presence in the FBL, but she also plays in leagues in several other countries. I have no idea where she actually lives. It seems to have little to do with one's official nationality in chess terms.
Dec-12-21  Albertan: Sedina is the 2021 Italian Women’s Chess Champion:
