Sep-03-12 | | spawn2: <torrefan>
If we will be fortunate or is it unfortunate: ) enough to play against Russia, GM Torre at Board 3 will play GM Sergey Karjakin if GMs So and Barbosa will play provided GM Sergey will not be given a rest. It is also possible for GM Torre to play GM Grischuk if either GM Wes or GM Oliver is rested and GM Kramnik plays and GM Grischuk is not rested. |
Sep-03-12 | | torrefan: Well, Russia is the Mount Everest of the Olympiad. It should be every other team's dream to test their skills against it. |
Sep-03-12 | | spawn2: Allow me to explain why I think we have a fairly good chance of "upsetting" 13th seed Bulgaria.
If you compare the <performance rating> of Team Philippines to Team Bulgaria after 5 rounds, we have higher performance ratings in 4 out of the 5 boards which means our players are playing better compared to the Bulgarians. Bd 1 GM Wes <2719> GM Topalov <2635> Bd 2 GM Georgiev <2552> GM Oli <2685> Bd 3 GM Eugene <> GM Cheparinov <2588> Bd 4 GM Delchev <2468> GM Mark <2687> Bd 5 GM Oliver <2631> GM Nikolov <2473> |

Am with you on that. If we will face Russia, China, U.S.A. or India to name some of the tough teams, it means we have continued to perform well. If that is the case, a top 20 finish should taste sweeter having achieve that playing the best the Olympiad has to offer. |

Sep-03-12 | | geniokov: <spawn2:after 5 rounds, we have higher performance ratings in 4 out of the 5 boards which means our players are playing better compared to the Bulgarians.> Correct assesment! It is the "rating performance"...as long as one´s spirit is highly motivated by his own will then nothing is imposible! It is not the standard rating but the rating performance!Agree ako diyan Bro! |

Mac2 is facing Delchev(author of Safest Gruenfeld and Safest Sicilian)but kung mababa ang Rating performance eh kaya ni Mark ito! Wesley will probably draw against Topalov but everything is posible to win his game!Topalov is easy to iritate during the game but can be dangerous at his best! |
Sep-03-12 | | geniokov: Kiril Georgiev is as strong as Jobaba Baadur of Georgia ata. |
Sep-03-12 | | geniokov: What makes AFGM popular para sa akin? With the exception of Kasparov upon which he encountered only once,AFGM had already beaten all the World Champion! From Tal,Petrosian...to Anand! |
Sep-03-12 | | giwgiw: Philippines 3 - 1 Bulgaria
GM So 1/2 - 1/2 GM Topalov
GM Barbosa 1 - 0 GM Georgiev
GM Torre 1/2 - 1/2 GM Cheparinov
GM Paragua 1 - 0 GM GM Delchev
Lets Go Team Philippines! |
Sep-03-12 | | spawn2: Battle Royale ito mamaya! Bulgaria fielding its best team based on ELO Rating. They know they cannot take the Philippines team for granted. Go Pinas! |
Sep-03-12 | | joeyj: The most exciting game to watch between Team Philippines & Bulgaria will once again on the Top Board, where GM Wesley So playing the white pieces, will put his “No-Loss Record Vs GMs with 2700+ rating“ on the line for the 35th time against FIDE’s 2005 World Chess Champion & 2010 World Chess Championship challenger GM Veselin Topalov (2752). This would be the 2nd encounter between the two chess warriors, where their 1st encounter that ended with a draw, took place in Round-8 of the previous 2010 Chess Olympiad in Khanty Mansiysk, Russia. | | perfidious: One suspects young Wesley is far less concerned about his string against 2700+ players than are some of his fans. The day this comes to its inevitable end, all lights in Philippines will be dimmed for one minute in honour of the memory. |

Sep-03-12 | | kimvot: So make sure not to let your eyes shut, you don't want to miss the ceremony. |

Sep-03-12 | | pinoymaster77: 30 minutes to the bakbakan - Mano a mano! |
Sep-03-12 | | pinoymaster77: Mukhang wala pang clear edge in the 4 boards, tiyagaan eto... Based on board positions, eh 2-2 ah but
we will see if there are twists and turns OTB... |
Sep-03-12 | | torrefan: Barbie may end up with weak pawn at c6. His pieces not well coordinated |
Sep-03-12 | | Iskubadayb: May tsansa manalo si bata. Wala ng olatz.
Medyo gumaganda na ang pwesto ni Barbie.
Wala na ring olatz ang kay bradidik.
Mas maganda na ang pwesto ni Mark.
Looking good! :) |
Sep-03-12 | | pinoymaster77: Good pm Master Isku,
Mukhang magkatuts na minimum 2.5-1.5 o 3-1 for PHI pero teka muna have to earn it in each game... |
2 knights for Barbz against 2 bish for Kiril. Equal chances. Malamang tabladingding itong kay Eugene. Unless magkamali ang kalaban. I doubt it. Simpleng endgame. This can get hairy! |
