Nov-14-13 | | lakers4sho: getting into a bit of a problem against the Berlin when you got Leko on your team is not a good sign I suppose. |
Nov-14-13 | | Pulo y Gata: Why should the buck fall on Leko? He's Anand, and he's a bigger expert on Berlin than Pedro. |
Nov-14-13 | | pinoymaster77: That's the BEST game of the match so far, BOTH players showed they're 'human'. Aptly titled 'THIS IS HOW CHESS SHOULD BE PLAYED', may our young and current top players emulate them : http://www.indianexpress.com/news/t... |
Nov-14-13 | | pinoymaster77: Nice Chess Piece article by Bobby in BW on the match so far, Atty Jong is mentioned at the end. |
Nov-14-13 | | pinoymaster77: Nice one too, this was intended before the Match, but nice insights too : http://week.manoramaonline.com/cgi-... |
Nov-16-13 | | pinoymaster77: Mukhang halos tapos na boksing with 4-2 lead by Magnus, with 2 endgame triumphs. Let's see,6 games to go... |
Nov-16-13 | | spawn2: <pm77>
Medyo tagilid na nga ang bangka. Last 6 games and it will be a very tall order for GM Anand to come up with a win considering how GM Carlsen has outplayed him in the last two games. |
Nov-16-13 | | Nf3em: when Vishy traded all the minor pieces at f6 as well as at e3, that released all the tensions and his winning chances; from there, I stopped watching for I have hunch that it will be another Magnus endgame victory out of a nearly equal position. |
Nov-17-13 | | pinoymaster77: From the chessbomb analyst, eh they didn't sense 'Anand playing all out for a win' by the tone of his play. Seems he wanted to get a rest day and recharge and prepare. Pero nakapunta na naman sa posisyon na gusto ni Magnus na 'equal endgame position'. Mukhang talo ng computer brain ni Magnus lahat ng table bases? Thats quite scary na even a minor inaccuracy a TOP GM cannot afford to do so against him... What else can be done? |
Nov-18-13 | | spawn2: <pm77>
GM Anand has to search within and find the "Tiger of Madras" in him. Only then will he have a chance of winning. I expect him to come out swinging tonight. |
Nov-18-13 | | pinoymaster77: Nice write-up in DNA India, puts in some good points to ponder : http://www.dnaindia.com/sport/repor... |
Nov-18-13 | | epistle: Where's the link for the bob ang article? |
Nov-18-13 | | Nf3em: We may have a new WCC in less than 12 games if Vishy continue to play like this. |
Nov-18-13 | | spawn2: I feel for GM Anand. It's not only that he might lose his crown but will relinquish it in front of his countrymen if the trend continues. There are still 5 games to go, hopefully he can get one win and that will inspire him to put a tougher challenge. |
Nov-18-13 | | epistle: GM Anand is proving to be not a worthy champion to the challenger. |
Nov-18-13
 | | perfidious: <epistle>: The champion has already proven himself a more than worthy titleholder in every respect, but he appears to have had his day in the sun, same as with every other sporting endeavour. |
Nov-18-13 | | pinoymaster77: Challenger Magnus just needs 2 points to wrest the crown? Let's see with Game 8 tonight. |
Nov-18-13 | | spawn2: I have not seen the whole post game interview for game 7 but based on the still pictures in chessdom, it seems GM Anand is handling the 2 game deficit quite well. I could be wrong though. |
Nov-19-13 | | epistle: Anand playing two points down at this stage is like running a 100-meter dash against Carlsen with a stone tied to each of his (Anand's) balls. |
Nov-19-13 | | pinoymaster77: Yup, with each passing game eh lumalapit na Magnus to the crown. A lot of positive changes might happen to chess as a sport, specially on popularity due to Magnus' charisma and other endeavours like commercial modelling. AFGM Eugene Torre was in the group pics of chess community's dinner with campaigning Gary Kasparov who's on whirlwind tour of Asia for his FIDE presidential bid. Sen. Koko, Cong Colmenares, NCFP officials, GMs, WIM Perena and media people were seen in the pics. |
Nov-19-13 | | pinoymaster77: Good Philstar article, Gary has fond memories of the 1992 Olympiad here and his battles with AFGM Eugene Torre ! http://www.philstar.com/sports/2013... |
Nov-19-13 | | lakers4sho: Heh, swooping up the little countries before Kirsan is able to do so. |
Nov-20-13 | | pinoymaster77: Elections would be in Aug then, but Gary as challenger need to cover a lot of ground. Meantime, this WCC Match would be in the homestretch, for a probable new era in chess. Also, this Sunday would be the Pacman vs Rios rumble in Macau. Go Manny! |
Nov-20-13 | | pinoymaster77: Insights of that game 8, I guess only Vishy and his team would know why they played the Berlin... http://www.indianexpress.com/news/v... |
Nov-21-13 | | Nf3em: and Magnus is 1/2 a point away from being the new WCC ... in tennis, this is called 3 match points ... |
