Apr-02-06 | | ahmadov: Bidmonfa, why to post these links when they will take you back to chessgames.com? Can you improve your web site with more interesting information and add more links about the players? On the other hand, it is good that you remind us about players whom we do not think frequently about ;) |

Jul-01-07 | | ahmadov: One day I asked Nidjat who was better in the position below. He looked for a few seconds and gave me the right solution to the puzzle. Then I understood what means to be a GM. Here is the puzzle:

 | | Joshka: <ahmadov> Be7?..guarding the a3 square? |
|
Jul-01-07 | | tarlan13: Whose move is in these position? I think black's ! |
|
Jul-01-07 | | ahmadov: <tarlan13> White to play and win. |
|
Jul-01-07 | | ahmadov: <Joshka: <ahmadov> Be7?..guarding the a3 square?> No, it is not the right move... Actually, this puzzle was posted by a user some time ago. Therefore, it was not my intention to post this as a puzzle. I just remembered Nidjat for his successful play in Spain and posted that message. However, if you want I might post the solution after a while... |

Jul-01-07 | | Ingolf: 1.Bf6 a3 2.Nc6 a2 3.Nb4+ or 2.- Kxc6 3.Bxd4 is the most elegant way, but I can't see why 1.Be7 shouldn't win as well. |
|
Jul-01-07 | | tarlan13: 1.Kg7 a3 2.Nc6 a2 3.Nb4+ or maybe 1.Bf3 a3 2.Bxd4 Kxd4 3.Nc6+ Kc5 4.Na5 a2 5.Nb3 |
|
Jul-01-07 | | ahmadov: <Joshka>,<tarlan13>,<Ingolf> Guys, I am so sorry, Be7 does not win because the Black pawn is on a3 not a4... I have just noticed the error... So, the puzzle is like this:
click for larger viewWhite to play and win...
By the way, to make the puzzle more difficult I did not tell Nidjat who is going to win. I just asked who is winning and how... |

 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: I'm sure I've seen this puzzle (and the solution, which I still remember) not so long ago, most probably posted by you... didn't you post it in The Kibitzer's Café and put the answer in your very profile? Or was it someone else? |

http://www.oibm-bad-wiessee.de/Rang...
He scored 7.5/9 (+6 =3 -0) and had the better tie-break score than Parligras. Some players who got 7.0 points: Postny, Khenkin, Korneev, Maier, Bruno. Top seed Shabalov disappointed with 6.5/9 (+6 =1 -2) |
|
Nov-19-07 | | ahmadov: Congratulations to Nidjat for his win in Germany! Well done! |
|
Nov-19-07 | | Manic: <ahmadov> Is the solution 1.Nc6 Kxc6 (otherwise Na4-b3 or if 1...a2 2.Nb4+) 2.Bf6 Kd5 (2...Kc5 3.Be7+) 3.d3 and now if 3...a2 4.d4+ dxc3 e.p. 5.Bxc3 Also, is this guy related to Raul Mamedov? |
|
Nov-19-07 | | ahmadov: <Manic><Also, is this guy related to Raul Mamedov?> No, he isn't. We just have many Mamedovs, Ahmadovs and Aliyevs :) |
|
Nov-19-07 | | ahmadov: <Manic> I posted this puzzle long time ago but you can still find the solution of this one on the second page here
User: MostlyAverageJoe Why not to try some easier puzzles on my forum? |

Jan-07-08 | | Karpova: <Round nine report by Steve Giddins Sometimes it is depressing to be proved right:
Mamedov,Nid (2575) - Malakhatko,V (2603) [C42]
Premier Hastings ENG (10), 06.01.2008
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Nxe5 d6 4.Nf3 Nxe4 5.Nc3 Nxc3 6.dxc3 Be7 7.Bf4 Nc6 8.Qd2 Be6 9.0–0–0 Qd7 10.Ng5 Bxg5 11.Bxg5 f6 12.Be3 0–0–0 13.Be2 Rhe8 14.Rhe1 a6 ½–½. Mind you, this masterpiece was dragged out to almost 25 minutes' playing time, making it a veritable marathon alongside Mamedov's nine-minute effort the day before.> <So, another Hastings ends. As always, it was a great ten days, enjoyed immensely by all those involved. It is just a shame that, for the second year in a row, the lion's share of the prize money has been scooped by cynical ex-Soviet GMs, who profit from what in many other sports would be regarded as little more than match-fixing. Chess in general, and Hastings in particular, will never attract serious commercial sponsorship until this scourge of non-games is removed. For now, though, I bid you farewell for another twelve months, and hope that you have enjoyed the past ten days' coverage of the Celebration 83rd Hastings International Chess Congress. Steve Giddins
PS. One of the evening entertainment events here at Hastings has been a series of "Master Classes", in which GMs spent an hour or so at the demo board, going over games played by the amateur players. Our Azeri hero, Mr Mamedov, was asked to do such a Master Class on the night before the final round. He declined, on the grounds that "I have an important game tomorrow"!! Don't ya love him?> http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail...
Nidjat Mamedov shared first place (together with Neverov and Malakhatko) with 7.5/10 at Hastings 2008. |

Dec-07-09 | | Dost2: Nidjat will be the 6th chess player (=2nd reserve) to represent Azerbaijan at the upcoming World team Chess Championship! He has deserved it, I think! |
