HeMateMe: <It is typically used at the beginning of a long match, to instill overconfidence in the opponent and cloud his mental processes.>

Girls have done that to me in bars, telling me I have nice hair or something like that. Puts you on 'tilt' if you don't know what they're really up to...

Dec-09-09  Whitehat1963: Capablanca just defeated Alekhine, Lasker, Rubinstein, Botvinnik, Fine, Euwe, and Keres in a tournament in heaven. Double round robin. He scored +10-2=2. Lost once to Fine and once to Botvinnik.

Fine actually replaced Maroczy who was scheduled to play but had an obligation to appear in a match against Korchnoi's dreams.

Dec-09-09  whiteshark: <RT> Anyone but me will tell you so.
Dec-09-09  whiteshark: <Whitehat1963:> I've heard that Alekhine afterwards accepted Capablanca's challenge for a rematch with no strings attached.
Dec-09-09  Whitehat1963: Bobby Fischer and Capablanca are now engaged in an epic blitz match. First to win 20 games.
Dec-09-09  Whitehat1963: Fischer called Capablanca a dirty-thieving Jew, and Capablanca broke off the rest of the match so he could go play tennis with a hot young actress.

<RT> promptly sent both of them to hell.

Dec-09-09  Whitehat1963: Rubinstein finally caught the fly that's been bothering him for decades. He's feeling so much better now. He can finally focus on the board. He's playing a match with Tal. Winner plays Morphy.
Dec-09-09  TheFocus: <WhiteHat> Good to see Capablanca is still kicking butt. Who got the draws?
Dec-09-09  technical draw: There is a cool page here at chessgames where you can tell all sorts of lies. Real funny ones, too. People make up all kinds of odd lies, but of course, no one believes them. Here's the page:

Dec-09-09  Harvestman: Hey! That was meant to be a secret!
Dec-09-09  TheFocus: <technical draw> Is that supposed to be a joke? If you don't delete that, then I will report that to CG as a personal attack.
Dec-09-09  positionalgenius: <TD> lol

It takes everyone to his or her own page. It's like a magic mirror in a fairy tale.

Dec-09-09  TheFocus: Mirror, mirror, on the wall.
Who's the fairest of them all?

Oh, yeah, TheFocus.

(But I get tired of looking at that face every day!)

Dec-09-09  TheFocus: <keypusher> <It takes everyone to his or her own page. It's like a magic mirror in a fairy tale.>

LOL, ok, then, that is funny.

Dec-09-09  Harvestman: <It takes everyone to his or her own page. It's like a magic mirror in a fairy tale.>

I knew that. I wasn't fooled for a moment. It isn't even a particularly clever trick. I could have done it myself, if I only knew how.

Nice.

Dec-09-09  TheFocus: I just thought that <TD> was attacking me because he is so jealous of my great tactical and strategic skills as evidenced by my spanking him 4 to 0 in our recent grudge match.

Better luck next time, TD.

Dec-09-09  technical draw: This is TD after he lost the 4 games to <TheFocus>.:

Dec-09-09  TheFocus: ROFL! Yep, that was his reaction. I am terrified of a rematch.
Dec-09-09  Pjalle: Many years ago I was on vacation in Hollywood and beat Arnold Schwarzenegger in an arm wrestling competition.
