Feb-06-10  TheFocus: Whenever I get a losing position in a tournament, I usually make the most outlandish move, stand up, point at it, and in a loud voice, I yell "Now, that is a real sockdolager of a move. I win!!" If I start dancing around, my opponents usually resign.
Feb-06-10  TheFocus: Sometimes I employ the Focus Bluff. I sacrifice my Bishop against the Castled King on h2 or h7, and then I stand up and begin putting my things away. When my opponent looks at me in confusion, I say, "Oh, I meant to say Mate in 12."

Then I look around and say "I wonder who my next opponent will be?" I then hand them my scoresheet and ask them to sign it. It works every time.

Feb-06-10  soldal: <TheFocus: I originated the saying "Watch your step, but don't step on your watch.">

Bob Dylan originated the saying "I'm sittin' on my watch so I can be on time".

Sorry, no lie:

Feb-06-10  technical draw: I invented the "resign" move. Before you had to keep playing until you were mated. A lot of the first "resigners" were banned from clubs, ridiculed, spat upon and were called all kinds of names. Now it's a normal thing to resign but some of the early pioneers were martyred. Resigns in Spanish: abandonan
Feb-06-10  Jim Bartle: I, however, perfected it.
Feb-06-10  technical draw: I also invented the "human chessboard":

Feb-06-10  PinnedPiece: When I was in third grade, my teacher was a failed Hollywood comedian-songwriter. He made use of some of our silly sayings. Once I was talking about a classmate's numerous skin blemishes, and what I said went global because of that clown:

"She's got freckles on her but she's pretty."

Feb-06-10  PinnedPiece: The following comment first appeared on the Alexy Kim page:

<technical draw: This is an amazing photograph of the Korean peninsula at night. North Korea is in almost complete darkness while South Korea is lit up. http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/... >

But I sure like the way both countries outline their borders with luminarios ( http://www.hispanic-culture-online.... ).

That has got to take major coordination and effort.

Feb-06-10  technical draw: <But I sure like the way both countries outline their borders with luminarios>

Those are electrified fences to keep the illegal aliens from entering North Korea.

chancho: Sarah Palin positively impressed me with her speech tonight.
Feb-07-10  whiteshark: Now this is really fun to watch. Kind of jumping castle with excessively enthusiastic kids. But are you man enough for that? http://www.usdebtclock.org/
Feb-07-10  whiteshark: Let me think for you since I'm better at it.
Feb-07-10  whiteshark: I Love You Honey. And This Time I Mean It!

Feb-07-10  whiteshark: The connection between Siberia and Allaska will be called <Palin-Bridge>. And with 8.32 miles it'll the longest sea-crossing bridge in the world. The construction of such a bridge, the engineering and the financing weren't big issues though. It will be opened timely on 25th July 2010 so that you can travel to <2010 FIFA World Cup> by car.
