Over here the same, Supreme court gave the Governors and Mayors all powers to decide about quarentene and healthy management. They got money from Federal Government. Most stole the money, course..And now suddenly the only one to blame is the President..To bad people woke up and the President is doing fine on polls.

Meanwhile..

Aug-16-20  thegoodanarchist: <BiPa: I'll change the dial on the radio if one of my talk shows is going on about the covid thing. It bores me.>

What talk shows do you listen to? Are they local, or nationally syndicated?

Aug-16-20  thegoodanarchist: More than 6 years ago, I submitted this for GOTD pun:

Maroczy vs Schiffers, 1898 (kibitz #11)

Geza truly made great use of his pawns in this game.

But it got no traction with the admins.

So I ask the forum, is this pun any good, or not?

OhioChessFan: Very good, maybe great. If there was a famous literary, pop culture or historical antecedent for the phrase, it'd be much better.

The puns are real hit and miss. I have over 150 better than today's effort sitting in queue. But, I thought(and still think) this was Pun of the Year material, although I was apparently the only one:

A Timofeev vs S Feller, 2010

Ditto this one in 2018:

Capablanca vs Newark Evening News, 1931

Aug-16-20  thegoodanarchist: Well, the first pun is certainly better than "The Smeller's the Feller".

Personally, I don't like "Fake News". But you do come up with many good ones, as does FSR and Phony.

Aug-16-20  Keyser Soze: Awesome game, anyway.
Aug-16-20  thegoodanarchist: Good news! One barrel of water has been drained from the swamp:

<WASHINGTON — A former FBI lawyer intends to plead guilty after he was charged with falsifying a document as part of a deal with prosecutors conducting their own criminal inquiry of the Russia investigation, according to his lawyer and court documents made public Friday.

The lawyer, Kevin Clinesmith, 38, who was assigned to the Russia investigation, plans to admit that he altered an email from the CIA that investigators relied on to seek renewed court permission in 2017 for a secret wiretap on former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, who had at times provided information to the spy agency. Clinesmith’s lawyer said he made a mistake while trying to clarify facts for a colleague.>

If you believe that last sentence, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. The guy graduated from law school and wants us to believe he can't copy and paste??

<President Donald Trump immediately promoted the plea agreement as proof that the Russia investigation was illegitimate and politically motivated, opening a White House news conference by calling Clinesmith “corrupt” and the deal “just the beginning.” Trump has long been blunt about viewing the investigation by the prosecutor examining the earlier inquiry, John Durham, as political payback whose fruits he would like to see revealed in the weeks before the election.>

Maybe more barrels of water will be drained.

Yes, Antifa only thrives when the police are told to stand down and the populace won't stand up.

Aug-16-20  Big Pawn: <tga: What talk shows do you listen to? Are they local, or nationally syndicated?>

Howie Carr, who used to be local out of Boston, but I guess he's syndicated now. I like Howie's sense of humor and his tone of voice. He's never whining or frustrated or angry sounding.

I guess I just don't listen to that much radio anymore, but I do listen to podcasts. The people I listen to aren't well-known because they are right wing Christian fundamentalist types, rather than conservative INC types. I like Bob Enyart, Doug Mcburney, Brannon House has some good stuff and I even have Michael Savage on podcast, although I listen to him very rarely now.

Still, if I turn any of these on and they're having a COVID show, I usually switch to another podcast.

My favorite show comes on once a week and it's called Prophecy Today, hosted by Jimmy DeYoung. It's 90 minutes and they go over all the world news that apparently sets the stage for bible prophecy to be fulfilled. It's an excellent show! No filler, no repetition (like Hannity, can't listen to him anymore), no high strung emotions (like Mark Levin who is always angry and he's always "had it") and it's packed with substance and features a variety of intelligent and insightful commentators. I wait for it every Saturday.

Aug-16-20  Big Pawn: <Tga>, I forgot. Another guy I listen to from time to time is Nightside with Dan Rea on WBZ, 1030 AM out of Boston. He position himself as a middle of the road "let's not get too crazy on EITHER SIDE" kind of guy, which means he's too liberal for me. Still, I like his show because he's generally a good host and callers call in during the whole show. It's mostly a call in show. He's got a good way of dealing with difficult callers, has a pleasant tone of voice, rarely gets angry or frustrated and let's both sides speak their piece. Callers on both sides of the spectrum feel quite comfortable calling and saying what they've got to say.

He didn't vote for Trump. Didn't vote in the last election, so, he's one of those guys.

Negatives not withstanding, I find his show relaxing to listen to sometimes. It comes on between 8:00PM and midnight. I turn it on here and there throughout the night. If I'm in the car at that time, I might turn it one just to have something to listen to, but I can just as easily turn it off if they talk about COVID.

I'm done listening to COVID stuff.

Life has returned back to normal for me for the most part and I don't participate in the madness by watching TV (I haven't had a TV since, I think, 2009) or listening to the trendy talk shows like Rush, Hannity and so on.

I tend to agree with Rush and Hannity and they're basically the Good Guys in all of this, but they offer no insight so I'm bored with them. It's just a place for conservatives to go and complain about how rotten the left is. I'm done with that. It doesn't interest me. Hannity has a lot of frustration in his voice. Can't listen to him for long. Plus, he repeats himself way too much and he talks over his guests all the time.

I only listen to shows that offer real insight now. Howie Carr doesn't offer real insight, but I like his sense of humor. I listen to maybe 20 minutes of his 4 hour show every day or every other day. He's got a segment called The Chump Line where people call up and leave a message for the Howie Car Show and they tend to be very funny, so I listen to that and shut it off.

gezafan: Chicago's Mayor Lori Lightfoot blames Trump and the coronavirus for the looting in Chicago. Lol.

The liberal faithful probably believe all the rubbish these liberal leaders spew.

I suspect mayors such as Lightfoot are collaborators. They support the looters and rioters. They can't say so publicly so they have to give convoluted explanations to explain what's happening. They're only pretending to oppose these things for public consumption.

Liberals are as stated more correctly leftists that operate off of hate, lies and confusion... Those who are hell bent on it can't be swayed by reason in the same way brain surgery won't cure a heart ailment and that is what they have. The core of this movement is Marxist and as such they use racial strife and tension for an end goal, not for the betterment of minorities. If they truly cared about black lives they would ban Margaret Sanger's Eugenics termination centers....

If my faith wasn't in Jesus Christ and my hope of a better kingdom my despair would be incurable....

Troller: <gezafan: It looks as if we already have something that will stop the Wuhan virus, hydroxychloroquine + zinc. Many doctors have reported success using it. Dr. Zelenko is an example.

That's what I'm going to ask for if I get it.>

Neither the FDA nor the European sister organization EMA recommends the use of hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for Covid-19 outside of clinical studies. There are several possible side effects, e.g. cardiac disorders. One can choose not to believe the research here, but as I am not a doctor (and hence have a difficult time understanding fully all effects) I would personally listen to the authorities in such case.

The next big news on the virus will be the fully tested vaccine, seemingly Q1 of next year. Collateral damage on the economy cannot be ignored as such but I can sort of identify with this comment: <I'm done listening to COVID stuff. >

Because it takes probably years to find a conclusive study. I know for a fact doctor friends who prescribed for patients..And helped, they say so. Fact is there is big pressure from Big Pharma industry, since the drug is very cheap , and media politicized the drug . Brazil deal with Malaria for too long and the drug was never a problem.

Troller: The drug was recommended by the FDA already in March but due to the studies made so far this recommendation was withdrawn a month ago. In Europe the drug is largely ignored by media and is not politicized in any way; still, the EMA does not recommend it. Pharma pressure can be there of course; presumably it would Gilead in this case, as they have the one approved product at the moment.

<To bad people woke up and the President is doing fine on polls.> Maybe doing better than previously, but most polls still favor Biden, no?

Troller: Yeah, this happened in back April in France. And the support for Raoult in the scientific community has been almost non-existent. Again, I am no expert on this but 90% of the scientific evidence seems to point towards the same conclusion. Could still be wrong of course.

Not being in a high-risk group myself I would prefer not to risk side effects from the drug, should I come down with Covid. The mortality rate is pretty close to 0% anyway for someone like me.

Aug-17-20  Keyser Soze: I would not take as well. The statistic for the group between 35-45 years old going bad to hospital, is about 0.3%, 0.2% in some countries..
Aug-17-20  thegoodanarchist: < gezafan:

Well, a few weeks ago I posted a link to an article about the close relationship between Chi-town politicians (mostly south-side) and various gangs.

So yeah, most politicians in Chicago work with criminals, be they gangs or domestic terrorists or what have you.

Aug-17-20  thegoodanarchist: < Troller:

... as I am not a doctor ... I would personally listen to the authorities in such case.>

Bad idea, in many cases. And it pains me to say it.

I earned a doctorate in physics, but even before I completed my studies I was working in the tech industry. I did research into various materials for use in semiconductor devices, and also served an internship under a principle engineer at a semiconductor tool manufacturer.

Basically, everyone working in my industry must have intellectual honesty, because our jobs depend on it. If the computer chips don't work, we can't stay in business. We have to get it right.

Without giving it much thought at the time, I assumed that it was likewise in other industries, and deferred to experts in other fields over my own thinking.

But as the years have gone by, I have learned both through my own experience (and that of other people), deferring to experts is often a mistake.

(We can thank the internet for the opportunity to compare notes with people all over the world on just about every topic there is.)

Unlike my industry, folks in fields such as medicine and nutrition can not only get away with peddling BS, but they can enrich themselves by doing so.

The job of a physician used to be, way back when, to heal the sick. Now their job is to "treat" the sick with big pharma products that never cure anything. That way, big pharma and the physician can get periodic payments from sick people. In other words, a recurring income stream.

Healthcare is a hugely profitable industry, a giant chunk of our economy. Giving people the truth about nutrition, healthy living, and pharmacology would bankrupt a lot of very big and powerful corporations. And the politicians they donate to. It would also cut the income of the prescribing doctors.

Aug-17-20  diceman: <Big Pawn:

<Diceman>, what post are you responding to? Exactly what are you responding to?>

Not so much a single post, but statements within them such as this:

<Half the country (or so) thinks this way, and these people vote. This is why democracy is destined to fail. >

<Is it better to have freedom or justice? Is it better to have peace or justice?
Is a free society better than a just society?
Is a free society better than a moral society?

<All of these brainwashed conservative sheep out there think democracy was handed down to America from God Himself. As though the constitution is another book in the bible. As though the founding fathers were new apostles appointed to America in 1776. >

What's the use? No one here is ready for this rhetoric of mine, that much I know. They think "<Big Pawn> sometimes goes too far." I wonder if the Good People ever consider their own biases? Do they ever perceive with objective eyes the box that their minds are stuck in? Could it even be possible that the Good People are stuck in a box and don't know it, just like the libs (but a different box)?

I won't waste my time debating it - yet.>

When you first mentioned being an "Emperor" on the rogoff page, I thought it was a joke, as conservatism has no "emperor." Simply a device you used to mock the libs.

Now I see that that you really don't trust
"us" voting. (or freedom for that matter) You are speaking as if you want this "emperor" to judge our morality. To weed out the trash on election day.

This kind of stuff:

<What's the use? No one here is ready for this rhetoric of mine, that much I know. They think >

Is pure lib.
On the rogoff page, I call it, "in-between-the-ears" analysis.

When you say this:

<Half the country (or so) thinks this way>

You also seem to miss, a lot of what they think is true. There has been atrocity/destruction committed on the black man. Where they are wrong is, it isn't about America/white people/capitalism, it is about one party, greedy/power hungry/and fascist.

Not to mention, if an "England style" government is so great, why are they doing so poorly?

gezafan: I'd rather have Big Pawn or some of the conservative posters here as emperor than what we have now.

I think democracy is workable in an educated, white country.

One of the problems with emperors and kings is while your current one with absolute power might be good subsequent ones with absolute power might be bad.

gezafan: <Troller: Neither the FDA nor the European sister organization EMA recommends the use of hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for Covid-19 outside of clinical studies.>

Meanwhile people die as they wait for never to come studies. Recently the NIH conducted studies on HCQ by itself, HCQ with an antibiotic but not HCQ with zinc, which is what has been found to be effective. As Dr. Zelenko said HCQ is the gun, the zinc is the bullet and you need both to be effective.

Why didn't they study HCQ + zinc which has been shown to be effective? The PTB obviously don't want a cure for the Wuhan virus.

<There are several possible side effects, e.g. cardiac disorders. One can choose not to believe the research here, but as I am not a doctor (and hence have a difficult time understanding fully all effects) I would personally listen to the authorities in such case.>

HCQ is known to be a safe drug and has been used for decades to treat malaria. The allegedly dangerous side effects myth is based on an article in The Lancet that has been proven to be fraudulent. The Lancet has already withdrawn the article.

If I get it I'm asking to be treated with HCQ + zinc plus an antibiotic plus high dosages of vitamin C.
