| Nov-13-12 | | Benzol: <CG Librarian> Can you do something to fix the result for Maroczy vs Ed Lasker, 1926
Once this done then its attendant tournament can be nominated for its own page. |
| Nov-16-12 | | Benzol: Is the <CG Librarian> on holiday? |
Nov-16-12
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <Benzol> I don't think so, I submitted a correction just the other day and it's already been fixed :) I guess she just doesn't read her forum very often. It would be nice to see her post more regularly. |

<Pitschka is a very unfortunate name in some languages :)> Would You care to elaborate? :-) |
| Nov-17-12 | | brankat: Btw, who is CG Librarian, unless it is a secret :-)
I've been under the impression it was <Phony Benoni> |
Nov-17-12
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <CG Librarian> is one of the admins, not a regular member at all. You can tell by how seldom she posts :) |
| Nov-17-12 | | brankat: <SwitchingQuylthulg> Yes, but how do You know it is a "She"? Because of the avatar? That's why I had asked in the first place :-) |
Nov-17-12
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <brankat> The admins themselves say she's a she, not an it. They wouldn't lie to us, would they? :) |
| Nov-17-12 | | brankat: <SwitchingQuylthulg> <They wouldn't lie to us, would they? :)> Well, they are kind of a government :-) |
Nov-18-12
 | | Phony Benoni: <brankat> I'm glad it's not me. I don't think I could work as fast as The Incumbent does. |
| Nov-18-12 | | brankat: <Phony Benoni> But You and Your "co-workers" have done an absolutely terrific job with the "Historical Tournaments" project. Thank You! |
| Dec-10-12 | | Benzol: Thankyou <CG Librarian>. :) |
| Dec-11-12 | | Blunderdome: See the kibitzing here: Herbert Wimmer. Apparently this is two different people. |

 | | Al Williams: I'm having problems submitting my games. I keep getting a message "your PGN lacks the white tag". What the heck does that mean? |
Jan-16-13
 | | WannaBe: <Al Williams> Paste your PGN here and we'll figure it out with ya. |
Jan-28-13
 | | jnpope: Out of curiosity, just how much of a correction slip backlog do you have?
Zukertort vs Lipschutz, 1886 |
Jan-30-13
 | | chessgames.com: <jnpope> About Zukertort vs Lipschutz, 1886: it's excellent that somebody located a copy of the full actual game (http://www.chessarch.com/excavation...) but the problem is that the task to convert a JPG file of descriptive notation (with nonstandard nomenclature like "Double rooks") into modern PGN is above the CG Librarian's paygrade, so to speak. If we could get a modern algebraic version in normal text, we'd be happy to paste the proper moves in. <Al Williams> WannaBe is right: just show us your PGN and we'll figure out the problem in a minute. Some generic advice: when working with PGN, stay away from Microsoft Word, WordPad, MS Office, and other "word processing" type programs that have a tendency to turn normal quotation marks and dashes into their evil lookalike twins, who ruin everything. |
Jan-30-13
 | | Phony Benoni: <jnpope> You've worked hard enough on this, so I translated the game into algebraic and submitted another slip. In addition to everything else, there seems to have been a typo in the newspaper's score. |
Jan-31-13
 | | jnpope: I submitted the game twice as PGN, which is why I asked... once in December and once in January. |
Jan-31-13
 | | jnpope: I just figured nobody was actually looking at the PGN submissions any longer or I was on some "ignore this user" list. So the new question is... WTH happened to my December and January submissions? I'm not going to bother submitting things if the submissions are just going to /dev/null. |
Jan-31-13
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <jnpope> Having to wait for a couple months until your submissions turn up in the database isn't really that unusual. There are plenty of other users in the same queue :) |
Jan-31-13
 | | jnpope: <SwitchingQuylthulg>: This why I asked just how long the backlog was... If they actually got the submissions and are just backed up until July, I fully understand, but they appear to be saying they need a PGN copy when I've submitted it as PGN twice, which makes me wonder if they ever got the submissions. |
Jan-31-13
 | | jnpope: Perhaps there should be some place on the site that tells you what the current submission/correction wait-time is: "Corrections submitted today will be corrected on or around DAY/MONTH/YEAR based upon the number of entries waiting to be processed" type of thing... it shouldn't take too much effort to check the number of entries in the queue and multiply by some time factor to get an estimated wait-time... |

| Feb-09-13 | | Karpova: <CG Librarian>
The two games of Giambattista Lolli - C Lolli vs D Ercole Del Rio, 1755 and C Lolli vs NN, 1750 - are shown as <C Lolli vs ...> despite Lolli's forename being Giambattista so it should be <G Lolli>. |
