Dec-23-07 | | GeauxCool: Hello!
There is an option to discard all losing tickets, yet there is no option to cash in all winning tickets. Why not? |
|
Dec-24-07 | | DCP23: <GeauxCool> Because you're supposed to enjoy cashing in each winning ticket separately, savouring every single click. |
|
Dec-25-07 | | TIMER: I have made a comeback from about -13,000 back to near -1000 with 200 chessbuck max bets! Just shows you that you can comeback from anywhere! Only need to win another 8000 in 5 days... (well hard to keep this up but I shall give it a try!) |

Dec-26-07 | | malthrope: <TIMER: I have made a comeback from about -13,000 back to near -1000 with 200 chessbuck max bets! Just shows you that you can comeback from anywhere! [...]> Fantastic <TIMER> - A truly amazing comeback performance! :-))) I've been tracking you since when I go to the - ChessBookie Standings - to check out the overall standings, atm, you're at position #588 and I'm right behind you at position #589! ~lol~ So far I haven't been able to catch any <BIG WINS> yet (as we both know it's *not* easy to do with limited c-bucks to work with and a fixed bet ceiling of $200), but at least I've been in positon several times to catch one! ;) At any rate, it's mind boggling that we both still have a shot at it. I'll settle for just paying back the Loanshark and ending up dead even or with a slight positive. Although for those that think it's hopeless - it never really is, so long as one has the 'capital' to play with - and the heart to continue play there is always a chance for a comeback shot! <BIG grin> As, I said here sometime ago...
______________________________________________
"So, I'm still enjoying the betting game with the meager funds that I have left awaiting this leg to just bloody end! Looks like <TIMER> and I will both have a lot of fun in the Winter Leg Championship trying to overcome you 'High Rollers' all starting with a super plush bankroll of 10,000 c-bucks! <sheepish grin exposed>"
______________________________________________
If that does happen - it will be fun as no one before starting at the minimum $1,000 c-bucks level has ever been able to overcome that deficit that the qualifying winners enjoy in the previous legs (Spring, Summer & Fall) all have starting off with a bankroll of $10,000 c-bucks each. It maybe just a 'pipe dream' but at least it would be a bettors dream! Oh, and <ChessBookie> one last detail re: - Russian Superfinals (2007) - The last Round #11, which occurs on December 30th, will begin 3 hours earlier at 12:00 instead of 15:00. Just to let you *know* in advance! (in case that one small 'detail' has yet alluded you). :^) All the Best, - Mal PS: <DCP23: <GeauxCool> Because you're supposed to enjoy cashing in each winning ticket separately, savouring every single click.> I couldn't agree more! ~lol~ ;)) |

Dec-27-07 | | Ben2000: It's funny, right now my goal is to reach -30k net worth, My loan is 28,412 but it is hard to get rid of 5804 CB in 2-3 days.
I will do my best until the last seconds. ;)
By the way I think I have learned how to lose so next leg is the time to win.
Be careful everyone! |
|
Dec-28-07 | | malthrope: Sure hoping that <ChessBookie> can pay out on the - Russian Superfinals (2007) - Round #8 winners before betting closes on Round #9 bets (fingers crossed!)... Especially now that our good friend the Loanshark has collected his 'juice!' ~lol~ <Ben2000: It's funny, right now my goal is to reach -30k net worth, My loan is 28,412 but it is hard to get rid of 5804 CB in 2-3 days. I will do my best until the last seconds. ;) [...]> Good Luck in your quest <Ben2000> :) Guessing you relish all of those Pick 3's and Daily Doubles! The real trick is to *not* pick any of the winning combinations! Hehehe... ;)) - Mal |

Dec-28-07 | | Micawbr: <Chess Bookie> What late hour was it when you finally made the payouts? Before the next round started? I sure had a hankering to place a wager or two, would have done well too looking at today's results. If the loan shark script was run on time, a little loan, and I could have made a bet or two, and who knows. You know this could be a fun game if the bookie scripts were run in a timely manner. Then players around the world would benefit, they could bet earlier and more often, they could even plan their strategy better and get some sleep in the bargain. That is the point isn't it, have a game that is fun and that people can play without disrupting their various schedules too much. It is important the Chessgames side is managed effectively for that to happen though. This may sound critical and up to a certain point it is, sorry, I don't have the learn'n many of you have to phrase it all better, however my intent is to have a better game. A well run game benefits all. The official sites can be a big problem as most of know quite well, so a suggestion: Post a comment from the Bookie if settlements or something else cannot be done on time. I am not optimistic that much will change as the timing problems are ongoing for some time and have not been corrected. Instead, sometimes an excuse, and, if so, that excuse only for the last transgression. With that in mind, I wish you all Happy Holidays and a New Year filled with resolutions. And a well-run next leg. Sincerely (very sincerely),
Tom

Dec-29-07
 | | Chessgames Bookie: The final betting propositions for the fall leg have been set. The top ten finishers will start out the championship winter leg with 10,000 chessbucks. Good luck to everyone! |
|
Dec-30-07
 | | Chessgames Bookie: We're almost ready to pay off the very final bet of this leg, recompute the leaderboard, and declare the winners. We are 99% sure that Tatiana Kosintseva is the new Russian Women's Champion (based on tiebreaks) but we are delaying paying this bet until we have absolute confirmation. |
|
Dec-30-07
 | | Chessgames Bookie: All bets have been paid off. The winner, with 14,943 chessbucks is: <<< (1) imag 14,943 >>> He has received a free extra year premium membership. The nine runners-up are:
(2) Phoenix 10,000
(3) plimko 9,891
(4) JOHNNY YORK 8,451
(5) feripe 7,860
(6) Annie K. 7,580
(7) Fredrik 6,827
(8) Deathloks 6,282
(9) NakoSonorense 5,023
(10) Micawbr 5,021
Everybody listed above has qualified for the Winter Championship Leg which will begin at the start of the new year. Other qualifiers include the top 10 finishers from Spring and Summer 2007, as well as the top 10 finishers from last year's Championship. For those who didn't qualify, don't give up hope. It's still possible to claw your way to the top with your 1000 starting capital, and last year some people came very close to doing exactly that. Good luck to all! |
|
Dec-30-07 | | malthrope: Yep sure looks like it <ChessBookie> ! Thanks to <DCP23> and <Scarecrow> (to name but just two) for digging up the info... They went with the Sonneborn-Berger scores: 1) WGM/IM Tatiana Kosintseva // 39.25
2) WGM/IM Elena Tairova // 37.75
3) WGM/IM Evgenija Ovod // 35.75
4) WIM/IM Ekaterina Korbut // 33.50
They are all winners but in the limelight is - Tatiana Kosintseva - Congrats Tatiana! :))) 'Happy New Year' everyone! ;)
All the Best, - Mal

Dec-30-07 | | whiteshark: <Chessgames Bookie> Are there some binomials, i.e. who were runner-up twice ? Maybe an accidental chance for some 11th placed bettors ? |
|
Dec-30-07
 | | Chessgames Bookie: <Whiteshark> Some people did qualify more than once, but that doesn't allow 11th place finishers to qualify. In a sense they are helping their cause by eliminating competition. Sorry. <Trivia> My account finished with 99,501 chessbucks due to the 5% juice as well as decimal rounding profit. |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: Another comment:
There was some discussion over the past months of changing the way that loans are extended and betting caps are enforced. We do like many of these ideas a lot, but we don't think it's right to change the rules during the Championship Leg. We plan on implementing some of these ideas for next year. |

Jan-01-08 | | malthrope: <Stonehenge: <The leg will take about 3 months, so it should end in early March. > So we have a Bookie who doesn't know how to count. Great. :-0> Hehehe... <Stonehenge> I bet <ChessBookie> was sipping the bubbly just a wee bit today! ;) How could the 'Winter Leg Championship' exclude one of Mal's all time favorite chess events? The 17th Annual the one & only "Amber 'Rapids & Blindfold' Chess Tournament" in Monaco! In fact, I'm counting on it! ~lol~ :^) - Mal |
|
Jan-01-08
 | | Chessgames Bookie: <a Bookie who doesn't know how to count.> <sipping bubbly> Give me a break, my one day off all year ;-) The Winter Leg leg will end in LATE March, or early April. |
|
Jan-02-08 | | malthrope: Ah <ChessBookie> just shows how much <Stonehenge> and I really care about you! :)) In fact after the early betting on - Torneo di Capodanno: WINNER - is over (thanks for including that one, btw!), and the heavy betting starts up for - Corus (2008) - the main Super GM 'Group-A' event... Take all the <time> you need! :^) Cheers, - Mal |
|
Jan-06-08
 | | Sneaky: <Chessbookie> I have a sort of abstract question about how payoffs work. Consider the 4-way tournament Corus: WINNER (Honorary Group). What if all four players ended up tied? It says in the rules that anybody tied for 1st place pays off, so that means all tickets become winners? What would the payoffs look like, or would it just become a giant refund? |
|
Jan-09-08
 | | Chessgames Bookie: <Sneaky> What you describe is a very rare case where some bettors may win a ticket, but still lose money. Here's how the math works: the entire pool would be split into quarters, and then redistributed to the bettors based on how much money is bet on each player. People betting on the favorite would end up cashing in their tickets for less than what they paid. People betting on the longshots would show a profit. There would be no juice collected in this case, because I only take juice on losing tickets, and in the scenario you describe there would be no losing tickets. |
|
Jan-11-08
 | | Chessgames Bookie: Wagering is open on the 1st round of the Corus Tournament. |
|
Jan-11-08
 | | Chessgames Bookie: The Corus Tournament website has changed its pairings. All bets on the original pairings have been refunded. |
