Chessgames Bookie: We reversed the Armenia-Russia payout. Sorry about that.
Nov-09-11  WinKing: <wordfunph: ey guys, <CGB> is only human and makes mistakes :-)>

Considering how many 'transactions' the <CGB> handles he does a pretty good job keeping things straight. I think he just feels those Armenian women are 'hot' enough to light his cigar. ;)

Nov-09-11  WinKing: Thanks <CGB>.

<CGB> is this true? hmmmmmm..

Nov-10-11  TheFocus: No betting on the 9th round?

Well, c'mon Armenia! <Focus> needs a new pair of shoes!

Nov-11-11  Daisuki: Betting is open for two hours past the two-hour-earlier start of round nine? See http://euro2011.chessdom.com/18th-e... .
Nov-11-11  Daisuki: Round nine has started. I suppose those who bet after games are variously in progress or finished will have a huge advantage today.

Chnebelgrind: <those who bet after games are variously in progress> This bets must be refunded. I made my bet in time after I have seen your note! Thanks <Daisuki>.

Chnebelgrind: IMO all bets of this rd should be refunded (otherwise a lose a heap)

Chessgames Bookie: We closed the betting at 8:00am USA/Eastern time. Are you saying the rounds actually began earlier?

Somebody please give us the time the round began in Eastern Standard and we can nullify all bets made while games were in progress.

Nov-11-11  brankat: <Chessgames Bookie> What about a huge majority of kibitzers who are in a habit of betting on time? As set by the Chessbookie.

And exactly how many players around here rushed to the Bookie site after the games had started to see if the betting was still open? Any at all?

OhioChessFan: <brankat> read the post again:

we can nullify <all bets made while games were in progress.>

If the bet was made before the game started, you're fine.

OhioChessFan: On the flip side, if a person in good faith intended to place a bet at 8:00 am, saw the closing time listed at 8:00 am and then bet at 8:00 am, I can see them being a little disappointed the bet is rescinded.

Chessgames Bookie: I too feel sorry for the bettors who placed bets on good faith too and wish I could take their action, but the only proper thing to do is to close out everybody who was even 1 minute late. Early bettors still have action.

This kind of thing has happened before, once even some games were actually finished while the betting was still open. Have no fear: we can nullify all bets made after a certain time so everything is reset to the way it would be if the betting window closed at the proper time.

I just don't want to take action until I am positive exactly what time we are talking about.

Chessgames Bookie: OK it looks pretty certain that the games started at 6:00am, we are going to refund the late-bets now. Our apologies to anybody confused by the last-round timing (like ourselves).

OhioChessFan: It's pretty pathetic tournaments can't get their schedules posted properly. We had a couple prediction contests messed up by Bilbao reversing the schedules for a couple of rounds a while back.
Nov-12-11  brankat: <OhioChessFan> <Chessgames Bookie>

Thank You for the clarification. I didn't realize that Your software tracks times when individual bets are being placed.

On the other hand, what went wrong with the odds, if anything? I find it hard to believe that the post-time odds on Germany were as low as 9-4. Were some adjustments made? Thank You.

The software that refunds tickets in circumstances like this also recomputes the pools so that the odds are correct. I know it seems hard to believe that so much money was put on Germany but it's true—mostly due to one very gutsy 500 c$ bet that came in at 4:47am.

Nov-12-11  brankat: I see. Thanks Bookie!

Chnebelgrind: The happy guy who had a 5$ ticket on Germany winning the ETC now gets 5630c$! It seems that it is an old acquaintance, jumping on position 4!
Nov-15-11  wordfunph: <CG Bookie> Pick3 for Tal Memorial please, thank you.

moronovich: <ChessBookie> Agreed. Please Pick 3 for Tal Memorial.

Also because of fairness.Alas this is the best chance for the bottomdvellers to catch up with the leaders !

Nov-17-11  Scarecrow: I think the Bookie should introduce betting on the moral winner.
Nov-19-11  moulicules: Administrator: Hou vs Koneru round 4 not yet settled.. cant bet bec. got zero bal.
