Jan-21-12  dakgootje: Yeah - Now I can't win the pick-3..

Which also means I've got an excuse ready, if I make a loss today :)

Jan-21-12  dakgootje: Ugh - Gelfand is costing me a <lot> of bucks this tournament.. :(

Penguincw: Kasmky winning is costing me 1/3 of what I wagered in Round 7. I need the other tickets to win.

Tata Steel Rd 7: Gashimov-Caruana : Draw [info] 300 LIVE BET 3:5 1.59 477 Jan-21-12

Tata Steel Rd 7: Kamsky-Navara : Draw [info] 300 LIVE BET 1:2 1.51 453 Jan-21-12

Tata Steel Rd 7: Van Wely-Giri : Draw [info] 300 LIVE BET 5:9 1.55 465 Jan-21-12

Jan-21-12  technical draw: Another losing day. Another 1,000 gone. Lucky it's not real money. (or is it?).

Penguincw: Yes! All other games drawn. :) I profit a 42 chessbucks or something. :) Next time, I should've bet Carlsen-Gelfand, Carlsen, 300 (yes I would've picked Carlsen to win. Need proof? Here it is:

Jan-21-12  dakgootje: small loss of 270 in the end. Could have been much worse.

Penguincw: Thanks for the regular game betting, Pick 3, and a bonus. :)

BTW, if the tournament were to end right now, would the Carlsen-Aronian quinella pay or not?

Jan-21-12  wordfunph: <CGB> gracias for Pick 3 - the short-cut to big bucks!

Penguincw: Tata Steel Rd 8: Radjabov-Carlsen: FIRST MOVE pays odds of 1.18. So, if you bet the minimum, you profit nothing. Luckily, once bookie finalizes the odds, those staking 5, will profit one mere c$. Well, it had odds of 1.06 at one point.

chessgames.com: <BTW, if the tournament were to end right now, would the Carlsen-Aronian quinella pay or not?> Absolutely. Carlsen is tied with Aronian for 1st place, so "the 1st and 2nd place finishers" are clearly Aronian and Carlsen.

Any other way of interpreting the rankings is fallacious.

Jan-22-12  LDJ: Noooo! Why did you have to play 1.Nf3, Radjabov?

Ok. Thanks.

Plus, along with <LDJ> and several others, I can not believe Radjabov played 1.Nf3! When I came to the game, it looked like a d4 game. Way to go Radjabov. :(

Penguincw: Started bad, ended pretty well though.

I hope the bookie gives me some more power.

Tata Steel Rd 8: Navara-Van Wely : Draw [info] 300 LIVE BET 3:7 1.42 426 Jan-22-12

Jan-22-12  LDJ: Hmm, I'll lose more than 600 today :S Only right prediction was Topalov-Aronian.
Jan-22-12  technical draw: I will break even today thanks to Gashimov. I can't seem to surge ahead like superman...

chessgames.com: We changed the text of Tata Steel Rd 9: LONGEST GAME slightly, for clarification:

<The longest game will be the one which has the most moves by White and Black combined--not the longest game in terms of hours and minutes.>

Penguincw: Ah. A nice pay cheque. 1,547 chessbucks. :)

Thanks for the regular game betting and a daily double. :)

Chnebelgrind: It is not how it looks like. I have some kilos on winners in Tata steel A, B and C group and Quinella - and not on favourites!

<Switch> is trying to bring it away before half-time (like Carlsen in Pearl 2009, or Kramnik in Dortmund 2011). 8 users have yet to start. Maybe that's a part of their strategy.

Jan-23-12  dakgootje: heh - or one of those 10k'ers put it all on Carlsen, and potentially catapults to 20.9k
Jan-23-12  technical draw: Those 10k'ers that haven't bet are called sandbaggers. So quit your sandbagging and get in the pool!
