Feb-02-13  dakgootje: Say mista bookie - given the Moscow Open has started [and the first round has been played], might it be possible we bet the games? :)

Stonehenge: Bookie, I believe neither Potkin nor Andreikin showed up at the Moscow Open.
Feb-04-13  Beholder: <Stonehenge> Well according to this http://open.moscowchess.org/en/part... Andreikin wasn't even supposed to show up.

  Stonehenge: Sorry, I meant Inarkiev.

SwitchingQuylthulg: Also Turov, though his situation is a bit different. Potkin and Inarkiev scratched before the tournament started; Turov didn't (and is officially listed as a participant) but still failed to show up.

Chessgames Bookie: Potkin, Inarkiev, Turov, Andreikin: we'll probably scratch all of them (i.e., their bettors get refunds) although if what Switching says is correct then we might declare Turov a nonstarter.

About round-by-round betting on the Moscow open, it's hard to get the pairings and put the bets up in time. This round we managed.

Annie K.: This seems to be the page to go to for pairings:

Chessgames Bookie: Regarding Moscow Open: WINNER we've decided:

Inarkiev and Potkin were on the official site before the event, but were promptly removed right before the event began. We have to assume that they really were signed up to play, but called-in at the last minute to cancel. They were not paired for round #1. That's the equivalent of a "scratch" in racing and the betters should get a full refund--and they have.

Turov on the other hand really was paired for round #1 and received a forfeit. It would appear that he did not contact the organizers in time to announce his cancellation. For this reason, Turov bettors will have to bite the bullet and accept that their horse froze at the starting gate.

I hope that doesn't sound overly capricious, but after some thought this seems to be the proper way to make the betting pool adjustments.

Feb-07-13  bubuli55: Loanshark. Will you lend me some c$ so I can bet some :) I've got 0c$ and in the red :(

Sneaky: Haha I was one of those Turov bettors. (Yeah, I'm reduced to making ridiculous longshot bets.) It's OK, if he was so rude as to not call in his cancellation properly I deserve to lose my 5 bucks.

Now if my 2000:1 pick three ticket just comes out for me tomorrow I might be back in the game...

Feb-15-13  SloVice: Wow, <SwitchingQuylthulg> lost about 1000 chessbucks. He's coming back to the field folks. ;)

SwitchingQuylthulg: <Bookie> Please note that Anand vs G Meier, 2013 was drawn, not a Black win.
Feb-15-13  SloVice: <SwitchingQuylthulg> Indeed that is right. I should have about c$1500 less than I currently do.
Feb-15-13  WinKing: Yeah what a bummer. I had 40 chessbucks on Meier. That translates to $2313 chessbucks that I have to give back(sigh).
Feb-15-13  wordfunph: only in my dreams :(
