 | | Penguincw: < chessgames.com: OK, our training phase has ended, a big round of applaud for <wordfunph> for volunteering to run the show.
Good luck, punters! >
What! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I was actually doing well for <once>. Can I at least know how well I did? Also, good luck to <wordfunph> for the upcoming leg! You have some big shoes to fill. ;) |

sweet to see two Filipinos lording it over, though too early :) best of luck to <all> my bookie classmates! |
| Oct-02-14 | | dakgootje: ChessBookie is a game where people gamble c$ for a spot on the leaderboard - which in the end is topped by Switch ;D |
| Oct-04-14 | | Boomie: <Chessgames Bookie> I suppose you know that the "In Play" bets favor those who will be awake during the game. Well, I guess there had to be some advantage to living in Baku. |
Oct-04-14
 | | OhioChessFan: <Boomie> yeah, I wish I hadn't been off work during the last game where I lost a sizeable bet. It's an interesting idea, although I'm not sure it's fair. |
| Oct-04-14 | | Nightranger: I think the IN-PLAY just gives you another chance to second guess yourself, as I did. Decided to cover my bet by betting on a draw, since the game seemed to be going nowhere. Turned out to be wasted money since it just cut into my winnings. |
| Oct-04-14 | | scout118: Holy smokes! Getting wiped out. Need to change my "investment strategy". ;) |
| Oct-05-14 | | dakgootje: Nah man, losing is the new winning!
Winning is for losers. :) |
| Oct-06-14 | | Touch of Knight: <Chessgames Bookie> The <Two in a row?> bet is interesting, but I wish there had been an option for Caruana not winning any more games. Not very likely to happen, but I'm sure some of us would have bet on it in hope for big winnings. |
| Oct-08-14 | | Boomie: Strangely, there is no line for Caruana - Svidler in round 6. Go figger. |
Oct-08-14
 | | Chessgames Bookie: <Boomie> Try FIDE Grand Prix Baku 2014 Round 6: Caruana - Svidler "Six-Pack". |
Oct-08-14
 | | OhioChessFan: It seems to me we need an updated bookie pic on the homepage. |
| Oct-08-14 | | Boomie: <CB>
Saw the Six-Pack but that's a specialty item. There ought to also be a straight bet for the game. |
| Oct-08-14 | | dakgootje: Yeah, that happens more often that only specialty items are on offer for a game, no straight bets. I'm not specifically awesome at straight bets, but I like to have the option as well. |
| Oct-08-14 | | Beholder: Plus one for the straight bets. Also, bring back the 'DRAW NO BET' type bets. |
Oct-08-14
 | | Penguincw: Great! Yesterday, I didn't bet on anything in anticipation of many decisive games. All draws. This round, I expected all draws (except maybe Caruana-Svidler), and 3 decisive games pop up, including Kasimdzhanov and Radjabov, who are both having their first decisive game . >:( < FIDE Grand Prix Baku 2014 Round 6: "Console The Losers" SPECIAL : Svidler [cash in ticket] 3 YOU WIN! COLLECT 5 7:2 4.61 5 Oct-08-14 > Seriously. With those odds, I should've received 13 chessbucks. :( Now I know somebody's going to say "the payoff is divided into 3 pools" or whatever, but can't the bookie just generously donate his juice so betters can get the odds they earn. There's nothing wrong with inflation, right? It happens all the time (otherwise events like Pay Day wouldn't exist). :p In other news, looks like <Switch> hasn't lost any form, as it's only the 2nd week, and he's actually starting to run away with it. |

Print it out, take a screen shot, mark it on your calendar because it won't be up there for long. > I took a "screenshot": http://web.archive.org/web/20141010.... Although I didn't do it because you were on the leaderboard; I did it because <I> was on it. ;) |

Oct-11-14
 | | Penguincw: Just a useless question I'd like to ask that probably won't happen, but come close to happening in the future. What if there is a 6-way tie for FIDE Grand Prix Baku 2014 Round 9: LONGEST GAME. It says <If there is a tie for longest game, all games involved in that tie will pay.>, but what if all the games end at say, black's 35th move. Will all bets be refunded or something else happens? |
Oct-11-14
 | | Chessgames Bookie: <Penguincw> It's more likely all bets would be considered winners, but whether all bets win or all bets are refunded makes little practical difference as everyone gets their money back either way. In any case, the probability of all six games ending on the same half-move by pure chance is so vanishingly small that it's far more likely the playing hall is destroyed by an earthquake before any of the games can begin. |
| Oct-12-14 | | Nightranger: <technical draw: I'm on the leaderboard. Print it out, take a screen shot, mark it on your calendar because it won't be up there for long.> Congrats. Your still on the board after 2 days... |
