Chessgames Bookie: We have opened betting on the NH team tournament being played in Holland. The tournament matches the "Experience" team, consisting of Ulf Andersson, Alexander Beliavsky, Artur Jussupow, Ljubomir Ljubojevic and John Nunn vs the "Rising Stars" team of Magnus Carlsen, Sergey Karjakin, Jan Smeets, Daniel Stellwagen, and Wang Hao.

NH Tournament : Rising Stars vs Experience

Aug-18-06  DCP23: How could the settlement date for RS vs E be "Aug-19-06"? It's the date for the 1st round only, there 10 rounds total. It should be Aug-29.
Aug-18-06  NakoSonorense: <Arnold Schwarzenegger? Just kidding <Nako>. It's Arno.> I knew that... Nobody ever gets my subtle one-liners... :(

Chessgames Bookie: <DCP23> Thanks for pointing that out. It's correct now.
Aug-19-06  refutor: has it been announced whether the zurich tournament is fischer random or not?
Aug-19-06  acirce: It's not, but it's blitz, not rapid.

Aug-19-06  soughzin: Who loaded up on the rising stars at the very end? 1/5 is pretty bad and they're down a point after round one where they all had white lol. There goes 100 down the drain.
Aug-20-06  chessmind: FisherRandom and Rapid @ Chess Classic Mainz has ended.

Levon Aronian (chess960) and
Viswanathan Anand (Rapid) won.

Sneaky: Woo hoo! I'm in 3rd place! I think I'm going to just put my engine into neutral now and coast to a top-10 finish.
Aug-20-06  Chess Classics: <Sneaky> Yes, I had Aronian too, but since I didn't play for the first month of the game I still have a lot of ground to make up. I got 1000 riding on one ticket...

This question has probably been answered before, but...when does hte summer leg end?

Regards,
CC

cu8sfan: I was there and saw Kasparov, Karpov, Korchnoi and Polgar play. It was a great event. People were very close to the games and the players. I took some pictures with my cell phone which I sent to <cg.com>. I risked my life asking Korchnoi to sign his biography for me. He eventually did but he was not amused. For some reasons he was playing under protest because the venue was not like it was promised to him.

lostemperor: <cu8sfan> rule #1: ask for a signature when a player has not lost (or isn't playing)!

Korchnoi signed his book (about endgames) for me gladly a few years ago in Wijk. He was just visiting :).
