| Oct-10-06 | | Holden: I lost about four hundred on round 11, but once my winning World vs AN bet pays out, my net worth will be 4072. |
| Oct-10-06 | | NateDawg: <statisticsman> I won about 2,000 chessbucks, bringing my total to 6,119. Perhaps it is time for me to NOT bet over half of my money on every round, which is what I have been doing, as it is too risky. I have another new strategy, but I guess I can't tell you. =) Does anybody know when the "Fall Leg" ends? Is it at the end of the World Championship, or does it continue past October 13th? |
| Oct-10-06 | | RonB52734: Do the "Number of draws" bets in Topa-Kramnik include possible draws occurring in the tie-breaks? If not, then all of my draw bets are busted, and the fact that they haven't been declared so by the Bookie just serves to mock me every time I look at my tickets. :( |
| Oct-10-06 | | fersonatu: <NateDawg> I don't believe the end of this leg has been announced yet but on Oct 13 it will barely be 1 month old. My understanding is that each leg should be about 3 months long. In short you can certainly choose to slow down (probably should in my opinion as betting 50% of your net worth each day seems EXTREMELY risky) but don't count on a top 10 finish yet. It is still very early in the season and there is probably work to be done. Last leg I tried coasting after the 2nd month and nearly fell out of the top 10 in the last day or two of the season. (I would have missed the top 10 if I hadn't done an "All-in" on the very last bet.) |
| Oct-10-06 | | statisticsman: <NateDawg> Well, you have overtaken me by about 900 CB, for now :).
I have half a mind to dump 2,500 into 1.d4 but not sure it is worth the risk to win approximately 250 CB. I don;t want to fall out of the top 10 because Kramnik decides to shake it up a bit...although statistically speaking it is sound... |
| Oct-10-06 | | NateDawg: <fersonatu> Thanks for the advice. I only started playing a few weeks ago. =) |
| Oct-10-06 | | semislav: <RonB52734> It says how many draws in the first 12 games |
| Oct-10-06 | | RonB52734: <semislav> good point (but bad for me) |
| Oct-11-06 | | Priyadharshan: why world vs arno nickel move 15... is not yet payed. |

Oct-11-06
 | | cu8sfan: I haven't been betting a lot these days. Since when is there a max bet of 200? |
Oct-11-06
 | | WannaBe: <cu8sfan> Since the new leg started. |
| Oct-11-06 | | Holden: The idea is to cut down on cheating. Apparently there was a problem with people creating multiple accounts, going to the loanshark with all of them, and betting all $1500 on one outcome with each account. One account must win. In addition to preventing cheating, the max bets also add a new dimension to the game, reducing the luck element a bit. Someone can't start up, bet all their cash blindly on a longshot, win, and guarantee themselves a spot on the winner's list. |

| Oct-11-06 | | whatthefat: <Chessgames Bookie>
In the overall standings, the rankings are not done correctly. For example, there are 3 people tied in 111th place. Supposing there were no ties at earlier positions, the person ranked next should be 114th, since there are clearly 113 people in front of them. Instead, it currently adds just a single position, so the next person is ranked 112th. |
| Oct-11-06 | | NateDawg: <<whatthefat> In the overall standings, the rankings are not done correctly.> This is evident by the fact that in the ChessBookie Standings, it lists the total number of contestants at the bottom of the page as 421, but the last person is ranked as #291. |
| Oct-12-06 | | statisticsman: Well, dumping 2,500 into 1.d4 paid off!!! Otherwise it was bye bye statisticsman from the top 10. |
| Oct-12-06 | | statisticsman: Wow!!! The top 4 spots separated by 35 chessbucks!!! |
| Oct-12-06 | | Nightranger: Why did my ticket lose? 6 draws in the first 12 rounds is what I had. Unless I'm mistaken, today's draw makes 6. |
Oct-12-06
 | | Chessgames Bookie: <Nightranger> Ooops, we accidentally paid off the wrong ticket. We will readjust scores immediately. |
Oct-12-06
 | | Chessgames Bookie: Regarding World Chess Championship: How many draws in first 12 games? : that bet is now fixed. All tickets for either 6 or 7 draws have been returned, only this time the tickets for 6 draws wins like it sound, and the 7's are the loser. We also deducted all monies from 3 people who cashed in their "winning" ticket for 7 draws. In two of these cases we had to reflect this by an increase in the loan. I am terribly sorry about this error, but everything should be 100% fixed now regarding that bet. |
| Oct-12-06 | | acirce: <Chessgames Bookie> Are you sure Topalov will have White in tomorrow's first game? If then, where did you get that information? Is it just assuming that they will keep switching colours? As far as I know there will be a new drawing of lots for colours before the tiebreaks. |
Oct-12-06
 | | chessgames.com: <acirce> You are correct, there is a new drawing of colors. We will handle this with an addendum on the bets. |
| Oct-12-06 | | dakgootje: <We also deducted all monies from 3 people who cashed in their "winning" ticket for 7 draws. In two of these cases we had to reflect this by an increase in the loan.> noticed that. Saw it, thought that you guys would probably count game 5 as a win, cashed in my tickets and just wanted to inform here when i had to get something to eat, but glad its fixed now. Only have more profit this way ;-) |
Oct-12-06
 | | Chessgames Bookie: Boy, I'm doing good today. :(
Very well: The bets for rounds 13 and 14 are now 'either or' bets depending on the draw of colors. If Topalovs ends up with White for game #13 then the tickets will resolve as originally intended, but if he picks Black then all tickets for round #13 are good for round #14 and vice versa. The new description of the tickets explains this and titles are changed to say "Round 13(14)" and "Round 14(13)". If anybody feels like they loaded up on round #13 prematurely or wants to back out for any reason, say something right now and we'll deliver a refund for your ticket. |
| Oct-12-06 | | Nightranger: <Chessgames Bookie> Thanks! Momma needs a new chess set. :-) |
| Oct-13-06 | | Scarecrow: Well, the current fall leg standings clearly indicate that the Semi-Slav was the winner of this World Championship :) |
