 | | jessicafischerqueen: Do you mean <George Bush jr.> or <Curious George> the inquisitive Monkey? Are <Bush's brains> really in his toenail? That could explain a lot. Like the way he has effectively destroyed his own political party, likely for the next 8 years. Good Grief <Doggimus>! |

 | | Domdaniel: G for Galloway, is my guess. The Scottish one that engages in pugilism with The Hitch. Both sides have their merits, I think, centrist wimp that I am. But both are also very eccentric, which helps. |

 | | Domdaniel: <Jess> -- <Like the way he has effectively destroyed his own political party, likely for the next 8 years.> That was Cheney. Think organ-grinder and monkey.
Lots of ground organs in Dick's curriculum vitae. |
| Aug-04-07 | | twinlark: <Dom> I'm very fond of the Hitch: he provides an excellent example of someone cashing in his leftie credentials to create the concept of the "neo-con leftie", namely a leftie that supports the invasion of Iraq. But he does have a beautiful sonorous voice that conveys sardonic scepticism and ironic expressions wonderfully well, inviting the lucky listener to bathe in his wisdom, regardless of how many pennies it costs to purchase. <Jess> ke? |
| Aug-04-07 | | twinlark: <Jess> Ah...I was straining my anatomical metaphor through a motorised colander. I'm saying GG has intelligence and courage to spare, and unashamedly and fearlessly (foolishly?) takes on the bellicose maniacs that threaten to reduce the world to a radioactive parking lot. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Well I was about to say.
You'll be pleased to know that my <Gramma> has a <motorised colon>. |
| Aug-05-07 | | twinlark: I am pleased. Motorised gramma needs a colon. ***<>*** |
| Aug-05-07 | | twinlark: or is that multiple colons;;;;;;;;;;;?? |
Aug-05-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: they look like <semi colons>, but I don't have my "reading glasses" on. Apropos of nothing, are there really <semi-slavs> living in <Eastern Europe>? Or is that just somthing the <ELO> people made up, like the <Fairy's Opening> and the <Cobbler's Balls Gambit>? |
| Aug-05-07 | | Eyal: I think there's a large community of <semi-slavs> living in <Cambridge Springs>. Sounds strange - but so is Dutch People living in Leningrad, Dragon People living in Sicily, or Symmetrical People living in England, I suppose. |
Aug-05-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Heh what are you doing up so late <Cappin>?? |
| Aug-05-07 | | Eyal: I know it's very late, but somehow I'm under the illusion it's only 1:30 PM. |
Aug-05-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Good grief man.
Check out the "raining frogs" webpage It's in the last post in my forum. It's the greatest webpage ever!
I just saw <Magnolia> on TV so I was doing some research. Oh and I left a message in your house about tomorrow. |
| Aug-05-07 | | mack: <The Scottish one that engages in pugilism with The Hitch.> Yes, and - shame of shames - my sodding MP. |
Aug-05-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Alfred Hitchcock (deceased)> is your <MP>? Now THAT'S impressive. |
Aug-05-07
 | | Domdaniel: <Now THAT'S impressive.> Is it? Look at Ronald Reagan, Glenda Jackson, Jesse Ventura. Politics is full of movie types, and a dead director trumps a live luvvie. As for the other Hitch, Christopher Hitchens, I like his new book 'God is not Great' -- it's more combative than the other two similar recent volumes, Dawkins's 'The God Delusion' and Dennett's 'Breaking the Spell'. Although why I bothered to read three books demonstrating a proposition I already accepted is one of them ineffable mysteries. Also, my brother met the Hitch in Tunisia recently and they went boozing. Two cheers for Tunisia, for allowing this, and one to the sibling, for surviving it. |

 | | Domdaniel: <Rock, Scissors, Paper> It seems that Rob Krueger of Toronto, Canada, is the Kasparov of this ancient sport. www.rpschamps.com |
| Aug-05-07 | | mack: <Jesse Ventura>
That's Jesse 'The Body' Ventura to you, thankyouverymuch. I thought you didn't 'do' pro wrestling? |
| Aug-05-07 | | twinlark: Hey <mack>! Can I ask you about the "sodding" part of that local MP description as well as the multiple shame bit? <jess> Hmm: I always did have a problem distinguishing my semis from my colons; now if anyone says that leaves a loophole large enough to drive a truck through, I'll run 'em over with that truck and then feed em to the local bunyip. <Dom> I've heard the Hitch is a legendary boozer, but I'll stick with the pugilist unless <mack> can convince me he's a shameful sod. I'd better stop tracking mud on yer floor now. Speaking of RPS, the NSW champ strutted her stuff on the radio last year with the interviewer who was in the studio and she was elsewhere, and she won every hand. I assume that's what each turn is called. Seems like a good thing to call it. I was speechless, mainly because I was between speeches. |
Aug-05-07
 | | Domdaniel: <mack> No, but I've seen 'Predator'. |
Aug-05-07
 | | Domdaniel: <twinlark> You can play Correspondence RPS, even by radio? Amazing. |
| Aug-05-07 | | mack: <twinlark: Hey <mack>! Can I ask you about the "sodding" part of that local MP description as well as the multiple shame bit?> I'm afraid I don't have any filthy kiss-and-tell stories about George Galloway. 'Sodding' is just one of those words that seems so right to use in conjuction with a snivelling little no-good, clueless, Big Brother scroat. |
| Aug-05-07 | | twinlark: <Dom> Yep. I'd like to see a World vs Rob Krueger game. Now that would be a sight to see. <mack> This sort of vituperousness is uncharacteristic of the <mack> I've come to know and love. I wasn't asking for a filthy kiss and tell, I was wondering whether you had maybe witnessed an example of inappropriate political behaviour. He has a chequered career but I tend to think that what's important is the person as he is now, especially if s/he's learned from their mistakes. With <Dom>'s indulgence, permit me one opportunity to try and change your mind. Did you see the episodes of BBBM that George lead after he was evicted, the one where he moderated the discussion after Emily was turfed for using the "n" word? They're available on YouTube if you haven't. Also, did you see his defence against the blueblood neocon moron Norm Coleman in the US Senate Committee that tried to implicate him with the Oil for Food scandal? Here's the link if you're interested: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Wj0m0dSU.... And here's the classic clip of him verbally clouting a Sky anchor around the ears for being an idiot interviewer: http://youtube.com/watch?v=249JaIau.... George may not have been real flash as a BB participant, but I envy you having a feisty local MP who has the guts to call Blair, Bush and their sycophants for what they are: a bunch of mass murderers; and who stands firmly against racism and for the worker and his constituents. Most recently, he's been out and about supporting the posties' action. He was turfed from the Labor Party a few years ago for calling on British troops to disobey <illegal> orders in Iraq, as is required under international law. Last week he was tossed out of the Commons for casting aspersions on the credibility of the members of the Standards and Privileges Committee that had cast aspersions on him over the funding of his Mariam appeal. He had to complete his speech outside of parliament where he has no parliamentary privilege because he couldn't do so inside parliament where he does have that privilege. I think there's something wrong with that picture. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Good lord I'm lost now. I can't follow you guys any more here. I'm a <bad Commonwealth citizen>!! I don't know enough about <Pommie/Antipodean/Erse/Scotch/Welsh> culture!! And I'm off to <Korea>, so things can only get worse. Ack |
| Aug-06-07 | | mack: <twinlark>
My main beef with Gorgeous George relates to how he won his seat in the first place. The Tower Hamlets area is disjointed, neglected and potentially explosive. Its needs were well understood by Oona King, who had been the MP there since 1997. Galloway ran on an anti-war platform, and won, mainly, because of our strong Muslim population. Jeremy Paxman did a good thing on election night by kicking Galloway over the fact he stole a seat from only the second black female MP in the country. This is basically what I was trying to convey by 'sodding'; I find it improper and distasteful that local politics is decided by one-note opportunism. He is a lousy, lousy local politician. There are plenty of others who continue to push the anti-war message, and in a far more eloquent fashion at that. I'm not so sure that George is somebody you want on your side. |
