  | | jessicafischerqueen: Dearest <Domdaniel>!! I have just been choke busy at work helping the students cram for their Mid Terms-- And only now do I have time to catch up with <CG.com> activities. I am in an EXTREMELY good mood this minute--
A: I have the afternoon free here
B: I have time to luxuriate in a slow reading of my favorite chess periodical. You may have heard of it-- <Frogspawn>? Heh I have a few back issues to enjoy now.
 C. I am playing a "pretend" six game tournament on <Yahoo> between now and Saturday-- Six games at <Two hours each> time control, and I JUST WON MY FIRST ROUND!! Heh-- He was (hang on lemme check)...
48 ratings points higher than me too!
So I "proved" in this instance that my rating was "undervalued." I think that's what ratings mean, according to <Eyal> and <The Great Dr. Max Euwe>. Ok- Now to pick up my copy of <Frogspawn>... AROOOOOOOO |

  | | jessicafischerqueen: <This blither und dither, yon und hither, is a further sign of *Disarboration* - being out of one's tree, like poor mad Sweeney among the Nightingales. He's apparently Jessica's favorite Irishman.> Too true. Although a close second is the guy in <The Third Policeman> who reports: "I hit him with the shovel until my arms grew tired." Yes, the final image of <Sweeney> in the trees is presented as Lampoon, but it is nonetheless profound. Aren't all humans trapped forever between heaven and hell, at least until they die and "disoover" (by never waking up) that there IS no heaven and hell? Romantic irony...
Trapped forever between the <Scotch and the Najdorf>... You'll be pleased to know, though, that I've become interested in the <French>. Not in playing it, mind you, but in destroying it. We still celebrate the anniversary of the <Battle of Agincourt> in my house. Mrs. Englishwoman. |

  | | Domdaniel: <Jess> You'll be lucky. White may win a game or three, but the French itself is indestructible. If there's ever a full-scale nuclear war the only survivors will be beetles arranged in a French formation. |

Bobby D - And how many times should a green frog spawn before he has a chance to mate...... |

  | | Domdaniel: <Deffi> I don't think they met, although Fischer was known to listen to "rock music" -- no idea what kind. But there's an indirect link via Marcel Duchamp and Andy Warhol (or John Cale and Edie Sedgwick). While we're on the chess/music front, anyone know about a band named Phish that played a game with its audience? Two games, actually: won one, lost one. Imagine losing to an *audience* ... |

  | | Domdaniel: Right, next -- ah, Ms Fischerqueen, we're ready to process your application now. Hmm, let me see, section 1, <I wish they was mine>, that seems to be in order ... now what have we got under <application, purpose of> ...? Eh? Some vague stuff about breath? I'm sorry Ms Fischerqueen, but you'll have to state your intentions more directly if you wish your application to proceed further in *this* office. Are you planning to bottle said breath for resale in Korea? That would come under either perfumes or narcotics, not our department at all. Please reapply in triplicate. And any reference to hitting people with shovels will not go down well. You dig? Have a nice day, Ms Fischerqualm. |

  | | jessicafischerqueen: Ah if only the <Waffen SS> had heeded your (sic) advice-- "The Belgian peasantry quake as the dread <SS Liebstandarde Adolf Hitler> roll through the village on the flanks of their mechanized armored personnel carriers-- thier grim visages SUDDENLY SOFTENING as they dismount and gather round <Ravi Shankar> to groove the rest of the day to those soothing Indian strings..." All they needed was a better guru. They might have benefited from a trip to Woodstock, although, sadly, they'd have had to wait a bit. Here is what I'm talkin about mister:
A little Tim followed by a little Ravi:
"If you were a chessplayer--- and I was your laaady.... would you marry me anyway,
would you have my baaaaby..."
