Domdaniel: Maurice Kennefick died over the new year, 2018-2019. RIP. It was many years since I spoke to him. He gave up chess, I reckon, towards the end of the 80s, though even after that he was sometimes lured out for club games. I still regard this game, even after so many years, as the ...

   Jan-06-19 Maurice Kennefick (replies)

Domdaniel: Kennefick died over the 2018-19 New Year. Formerly one of the strongest players in Ireland, he was the first winner of the Mulcahy tournament, held in honour of E.N. Mulcahy, a former Irish champion who died in a plane crash. I played Kennefick just once, and had a freakish win, ...

Domdaniel: <NBZ> -- Thanks, NBZ. Enjoy your chortle. Apropos nothing in particular, did you know that the word 'chortle' was coined by Lewis Carroll, author of 'Alice in Wonderland'? I once edited a magazine called Alice, so I can claim a connection. 'Chortle' requires the jamming ...

Domdaniel: <HMM> - Heh, well, yes. I also remembered that Chuck Berry had a hit with 'My Ding-a-ling' in the 1970s. I'm not sure which is saddest -- that the author of Johnny B. Goode and Memphis Tennessee and Teenage Wedding - among other short masterpieces - should sink to such ...

Everyone knows Mosdef because he's current- but do you remember white rapper Vanilla Ice? The Ice is forgotten but his "tag line" remains:

Then there was "Snow" the white rapper from Toronto with his monster (Canadian) hit INFORMER:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3U...

But as you well know, for white rappers, accept no substitute:

Aug-15-16  User not found: Oh man!! If you're blonde, under 35 and single you're probably my perfect chick, stop it now Jeff?! Lol. You know as much as I do about the things I'm passionate about, football and hip-hop (no Beatles no wedding? Lol).

I'm sure Dom doesn't want this here but have a listen. LL cool J is Eminem, the least successful white rapper's, favourite rapper.. LL's on Shade45 which is Eminem's radio station and he rings up pretending to be called Jason from Miami. LL tells Jason he's good and should write his own stuff before "Jason!" asks if he can rap one of his own songs... It's classic check it outhttps://youtu.be/9mqrAvMXhP0

<UHF Channel> That's a great phone call to be sure. I followed some other links to <Eminem> prank calls and they confirm his humour and just how clever he is.

This tribute combo with Dre is my favorite Eminem video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFc...

UNCENSORED VERSION so put ear plugs in or some such.

Detroit Way! Detroit Way!

Aug-16-16  User not found: I love that tune Jeff and it's a long time since I've heard it too. Eminem wrote Dr Dre's verse too (Dr Dre has never written a song in his life) but he wrote it to Jay-Z-s 'Ain't no ninja' track which is absurd and shouldn't even be possible. Jay-Z got wind of it and invited him to do a verse on his upcoming album called Blueprint. He said Eminem walked in with a bullet proof vest on, laid his vocals and left. That song was called Renegade, it's the most popular and critically acclaimed guest verse in hip-hop history and Jay never called him for another verse, haha. Jay-Z's got pride, everyone knows he got destroyed by a white boy (he was only 27ish at the time) on his own track.

Domdaniel: Hey, there, <user NF>, my friend: a note on the "perfect chickitude" of <Jeffica> ... sort of.

*Obviously* this young lady is *totally perfect*. She's been totally perfect for years and years.

I myself have been madly in lurv with Jeffica for a very long time. She is clearly a totally brill & wonderful member of the 'sex' that is supposedly 'opposite' to the one you and I belong to.

Truly, Maaaadly, Dweeeebly.

Jeffica is Perfectitude.

Domdaniel: <I'm sure Dom doesn't want this here> Are you *insane*, Markovic? Of course I want it here...

In my day, the forces of Law & Ordure were known as <Old Bill>, <Ancient William>, <Fuzzies>, etc etc. These days they seem to be known as 'Shades'. Or so I hear.

Aug-31-16  mckmac: <Dom> Thanks. You might be a scholar, but a gentleman too...

In my long-held and loss-making role as a hobbiest bookdealer, I came across a small Irish dictionary yesterday.

Closing my eyes and opening it at random, my ample thumb found the excellent letter U.

1. gan arm 2. minaireach 3. neamhphostuil 4. gan cheangal me 5. gan feighil

Just saying, and forgive the lack of appropriate accents, but no wonder Apple owes you crazy people 20 billion bucks!

Domdaniel: <mckmac> Books, eh? I've had a few of them in my time, though they tend to run away, get borrowed, catch fire, etc.

"Gan" [pronounced 'gone'] is Irish Gaelic for 'without' -- so 'gan arm' might be 'armless'? Unarmed, disarmed, legless, limbless, harmless, unprotected...

#5, 'gan feighil' might be 'without fail', but I doubt it.

I could just look this stuff up, I suppose, but speculative riffs are more fun.

Sep-02-16  mckmac: < I could look this stuff up, I suppose, but speculative riffs are more fun >

And one of the reasons, of course, that people like to look in here. Speaking of fun and people, and fine local music, this is the excellent Sean James Donnelly, who is known as SJD.

Sep-05-16  User not found: <Domdaniel: <User> Straight question - that's the Barca crest/shield, innit? I never noticed before that it contains a St George cross... what's the futbol equivalent of a St George Defence? The Catalan?>

I'll answer this here because for some strange reason Mr Freeperson decided that Tony Palmer posting pics of little girls and losing his job over it was my fault and he keeps deleting my posts! And also that having to dig out time and date stamps of when a certain lunatic (who's still sending me gay porn, I might get 3 or 4 days off every 6 months!?) was posting certain things, then giving that info to the police is also my fault. I told Daniel.. You can either give the information to my solicitor or the police will <demand> you give them <everything> because this has been going on for roughly 4 years. Daniel ignored me, thought I was BSing, I don't see him calling me a liar anymore. The police come back Thursday so I'll know more then.

It is the Barcelona crest/Shield but I've no idea why that St Georges cross is in there. I can only guess that it's the shield of some English Barcelona supporters who made it themselves because it's very unusual, I'd never noticed it before tbh, Dom.

Sep-05-16  hms123: <Dom> All is well. Travel, bridge, and mystery novels consume my days. You are likely correct about bridge and communication. Bad contracts lead to bad scores. Nonetheless, there's no brilliant play without bad bidding.
Sep-06-16  Travis Bickle: <User not found> The British police aren't going to do s#*% you idiot! Maybe lock you up again... lol

P.S. You keep making problems for Daniel and you'll get your a$$ bounced off of here imbecile...

Sep-06-16  mckmac: Cripes. You know, I have always seen this place as a satellite of sanity, where various posters try, in their individual ways, to achieve the mythical, the marvellous gold standard.

And that would be a post and then a dialogue that aspires to be friendly, funny, clever, timely, and concise.

Hey, We've all seen that here, and those times will never fade, they are here for good.
