<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

OhioChessFan: Thanks to <chessmoron> for the contest. Hope we have another one soon.
Nov-01-10  Bobwhoosta: <OhioChessFan>

I must say it is a breath of fresh air to have a fellow brother who believes in the inerrancy of Scripture.

I find myself most times fighting a battle- though not entirely alone (God is always with us)- against a number of those who accept naturalism as a religion and base their science off of it. It's VERY great to find a fellow chessplayer who most certainly does NOT!!

I thank God for all of this.

OhioChessFan: <Bw> I realize there's always comfort in numbers, and simply having <one> person on "your side" is very comforting. However, I don't mind at all being right and alone. It's all about truth.

I am more inclined to point to humanism and not naturalism as the underlying religion. Perhaps that's splitting semantical/phiosophical hairs, but if you are a humanist, there's really not many options for your religious expression besides naturalism. I am sure you are familiar with a relevant discussion in Romans 1. Perhaps this is all chicken/egg or cause/effect musing.

Nov-01-10  Bobwhoosta: <OhioChessFan>

I see your point. I would argue that the reverse is the case, as humans are the "highest evolved". But Romans 1 does make the claim that people replace God with both Nature (Naturalism), objects in Nature, and the Likeness of Man (Humanism).

If all roads lead to Romans, does it matter which they took?

Nov-02-10  Mr. President: My dear fellow citizen <OhioChessFan>,

you cannot deny the fact that the USA is the only free country on the American continent, the only country where the people take authority into their own hands.

So please, vote for me today!

Yours sincerely,
Mr. President

OhioChessFan: Romans 1:25 NIV They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator-who is forever praised. Amen.

One created thing is the earth. I think much of the current discussion of the ecology is in fact worship of the created.

chancho: Comets are made of ice and other particles, so does that mean that space is essentially cold? How can stars that are hot sustain themselves in that cold? They are powered by Hydrogen, among other elements, I've heard. Can someone explain?

OhioChessFan: <chancho> they can't be indefinitely self powered. I have some occasional musings on what that means per the age of the universe. Some of the discussions on energy are incomprehensible. I assume the PhD's know what they are talking about.

OhioChessFan: We've played moves I didn't like in the Pogo game but Ng4 has just left me deflated.
Nov-09-10

chancho: What exactly is the point of the move 25.Ng4?
It threatens a badly placed Bishop... what's the follow up? Looks like we are simply drifting.
I thought 25.Nd2 was a good move that did not yield much in the eval, but it made sense: overprotecting c4 and opening a battery: Queen and g2 Bishop on c6.

OhioChessFan: Nd2 had no chance of winning. I wish we'd had 3 days to look at it. Rb1 was also interesting. Such "quiet" moves have ZERO chance of being selected though. The one day vote is totally unacceptable and I will not participate in future games with that time limit.

  chancho: I agree.

OhioChessFan: Won't clutter the game page with this tidbit, but if <Tabanus> and <imag> are on the same move, there's over a 95% chance I'll be voting for that move. When I look at who voted for Bf1......and that group didn't carry enough weight......grumble grumble grumble.

Tabanus, imag, RandomVisitor, Skakalec, blue wave, OhioChessFan, DanLanglois, whiteRook48, Ron, Tomlinsky, Sparky123, jepflast, WinKing, lonepsycho, Artar1, Rhedrich, zsoyyd, belgradegambit, hms123, kamalakanta, Waitaka, bigchris, Diocletian, MTuraga, mworld, dakgootje, Check It Out

If you take away those voters, Ng4 won 119-73?! Whew.

Nov-09-10  hms123: <OCF> <chancho>

<The one day vote is totally unacceptable and I will not participate in future games with that time limit.>

Count me in on this one. I don't see how Ng4 won--I think <DS> has it nailed though.

In some lines, we might sack on h6.

Of course, Pogo would have to turn off her PC for the idea to work.
