<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

OhioChessFan: Great article. A good job in dealing with a huge and complex subject in a few words. I'd have liked a mention of a large % of the team dropping out of the Pogo game in protest and the dissension that argument caused. I realize he was treading a difficult line in being respectful to our previous opponent and the publication. I regret 3 people not getting a mention- <twinlark> <dom> and <chrisowen> Of course, if I spent a minute thinking about it, I'd come up with 3 more. Like <kutztown> <YouRang> and <Thorsson> And another minute.......I know a line needs to be drawn somewhere.

Surely my work on Chessgames.com counts as being published.

OhioChessFan: Oh, dear. Post modern liberalism run amok.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-eur...

<A study by the Free University of Amsterdam found that one-in-six clergy in the PKN and six other smaller denominations was either agnostic or atheist.

The Rev Kirsten Slattenaar, Exodus Church's regular priest, also rejects the idea - widely considered central to Christianity - that Jesus was divine as well as human.

"I think 'Son of God' is a kind of title," she says. "I don't think he was a god or a half god. I think he was a man, but he was a special man because he was very good in living from out of love, from out of the spirit of God he found inside himself."

Mrs Slattenaar acknowledges that she's changing what the Church has said, but, she insists, not the "real meaning of Christianity".>

Here's where I disagree:

1. It's all about truth. Truth exists, independent of anyone believing it.

2. The historical and resurrected Jesus as the son of God is central and foundational to Christianity.

3. It's all about truth.

Aug-05-11  Colonel Mortimer: <OhioChessFan:> <It's all about truth.> It certainly is, and whether you like it or not, we are all in search of it - including minor deities like yourself.
Aug-06-11  I play the Fred: OCF - I don't know why, but I'm on <JFQ's> ignore list. Could you see to it that she reads the following message I was intending to post on her forum?

"Give it time" is one of the most wise sayings in existence.

Some time ago, a discussion between us arose on the chessgames.com forum, and on it you argued for further moderation of this site, and I argued for less.

My recent experiences on this site have swayed me to your side, Jess. <Give it time>, I suppose.

This is not an apology, since I don't believe I uttered an inappropriate word in your direction at the time. But it <is> an admission that <you were right>, and <I was wrong>.

I made a post on the cg.com forum explaining that, because of these recent encounters, I won't be renewing my Premium Membership. I hope that my post there will touch off a new discussion on this topic, and from that discussion, necessary changes will be made.

OhioChessFan: I will tread very lightly on this. I think a person has a right to ignore whoever they will, and bypassing that somehow seems a breach of etiquette. I'll try to address this in an appropriate manner and see what happens.

jessicafischerqueen: Aha <Ohio> thank you- I hope that didn't annoy you from my end to get such a request.

I appreciate your ethics in this and other matters, some of them TOP SECRET. Ok they're not top secret but I like typing that out in CAP LOCKS.

I took care of the message just now.

lol I see you "treading lightly" in a few places- you remind me of one of the early flags of your Republic that had a snake and it said "Don't Tread on Me."

I suppose you meant the British.

I'm with you on that, I don't care for them either.

Oh except for Monty Python. And Kingscrusher.

Ok come to think I do enjoy the British.

I hope this has been of some help!

Thanks again,
Jess

Oh yeah, that's probably the first thing people think of when they consider me. If they consider me. Which they probably don't. Anyway.

Aug-06-11  playground player: <Ohio Chess Fan> I think maybe "Reverend Kirsten" is all we have to know. According to George Barna, only 15% of ordained female clergy have a Biblical world view (which includes believing that the Bible is the Word of God). She is obviously part of the other 85%.

Liberals insist there is no truth, although they treat their own secular doctrine as if it were true. They reject Moses and believe Al Gore. Case closed.

Aug-06-11  izimbra: <OCF> I just noticed your comment in my forum about Clifford Brown (I don't check there much because of low traffic).

I agree with the general <CB> consensus of jazz fans: he was immensely talented, almost all of his recordings with the Max Roach Quintet were great, and his early demise was a great loss (ironic too, because he was one of the few jazz greats of that era who was clean living in every way). He didn't live long enough for us to know whether he would have developed as a composer, but he sure was a great bop soloist.
