<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

OhioChessFan: Yes. A couple trivial lines. 1. Rb7+ Ka8 2. Ra7+ Kb8 is clearly a repetition. If Black underpromotes, the White Rook draws.

OhioChessFan: It appears YouRang chessforum will not be hosting a Games Prediction Contest, and I am still waiting to hear from lostemperor chessforum about a Final Standings Contest. I'll give an update if there's any status change for either of them.

OhioChessFan: A not so gentle warning. Anyone who gets on my bad side by partaking of The Troop activities anywhere on the site will be blocked immediately. I don't care if we're one round from the end of the contest.

OhioChessFan: Ugh. Just remembered why the monkey isn't a good idea. Any wins would impact the scoring for everyone else. In <YouRang> contest, the standard and 123 rankers aren't impacted by anyone getting a pick right. In this contest, every right pick has an impact. Maybe I'll just keep a total of what the monkey does and let everyone know after the round instead of leaving it in the game and influencing the scoring.
Dec-01-11  twinlark: Round 1:

Kramnik - Nakamura 1/2 41
Aronian - McShane 1-0 47
Carlsen - Howell 1-0 35

OhioChessFan: Welcome to the London Chess Classic Moves Prediction Contest. The contest involves picking a game result (1-0 1/2 or 0-1) and the number of moves in the game. As an example, if in a first round game you think Aronian will defeat Carlsen in 40 moves, your entry would say Aronian-Carlsen 1-0 40 While it is a bit more complicated than the game prediction contest hosted by <YouRang> it isn't <that> much more complicated. I think my profile as written by <chessmoron> does a pretty good job explaining how things work. A few odds and ends. I think <chessmoron> does this by hand and mistakes occasionally happen. Let him know, on this forum. Quickly. It really isn't as painful to miss a round as it is in <YouRang> contest. The winners often have rounds they don't score a single point. So don't fret if you miss a round. Pay attention to the matchups and to the tournament strategy. For example, if a player has an insurmountable lead in the last round, you just might expect a very short draw. In general, it's better to be under the number of moves than over because of the scoring system, so keep that in mind. There are a number of other nuances that will occur to you as the tournament progresses.
Dec-02-11  bubuli55: Kramnik- Nakamura 1/2 41
Aronian-McShane 1/2 53
Carlsen-Howell 1-0 47
Adams-Anand 1/2 37

Dec-02-11  Golden Executive:

Round 1:

Kramnik - Nakamura 1/2 46
Aronian – McShane 1-0 47
Carlsen – Howell 1-0 40
Adams – Anand 0-1 20
