<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

OhioChessFan: Not sure why Norway is generating so little buzz in the prediction contests. <lostemperor> entries are down over a third, <YouRang> has half as many as the last tournament and we've got about half of last tournament's entries here.

For anyone who hasn't done so, I encourage heading to www.chessgames.com/~yourang and enter his games prediction contest. And also visit www.chessgames.com/~lostemperor and his final standings contest.

  lostemperor: Anand - Aronian 1/2 in 33

I came one move short:(
Sept points s'il vous plaƮt.

lostemperor: Oh I see now that almost everyone, <twinlark, Golden Executive, penguincw, WinKing> and <Robin01> were also as close as or almost as close. Seems like 33 moves more or less was the obvious choice for Anand - Aronian. Swell :)
May-08-13  chessmoron: Round 2 09.05.13
Topalov -Radjabov 1-0
Hammer -Karjakin 0-1
Wang Hao -Svidler 1/2
Aronian -Nakamura 1/2
Carlsen -Anand 1/2

Round 3 10.05.13
Anand -Topalov 1/2
Nakamura -Carlsen 1/2
Svidler -Aronian 1/2
Karjakin -Wang Hao 1/2
Radjabov -Hammer 1-0

May-08-13  chessmoron: I will miss Round 1-2 results but keep your predictions going.

  OhioChessFan: In game update:

Carlsen-Topa drew in 51 moves, and Vishy-Aronian drew in 33. Naka beat Hao in 42 moves and Karjakin defeated Radjabov in 41. Svidler looks good against Hammer 50 moves in.

OhioChessFan: Svidler converted the win in 58 moves. 3 decisive games in the first round. 8 rounds to go.
May-08-13  Robin01: Round 2 predictions:

Carlsen - Anand 1/2 43
Topalov - Radjabov 1-0 37
Aronian - Nakamura 1-0 62
Wang - Svidler 1/2 35
Hammer - Karjakin 1/2 43

May-08-13  WinKing: <OhioChessFan> I have tried to copy the way <chessmoron> scores the contest in my forum. Of course my numbers are unofficial also. I do a step by step process so as to cut down on missing anything.

OhioChessFan: Wow, we're way different. Do you know that if 3 people tie for first under, the next closest counts for second under?
May-08-13
Premium Chessgames Member
OhioChessFan: Oh, I recognize what I did. I used a sort of template, but reversed the Svidler and Karjakin games. Makes a huge difference.
May-08-13  WinKing: <OhioChessFan: Do you know that if 3 people tie for first under, the next closest counts for second under?>

Yes <OCF>, there were not a whole lot of unders.

May-08-13  WinKing: I also listed what everyone predicted. That makes it a whole lot easier.

OhioChessFan: I am going to delete my post then. It's wrong all over the place.

Penguincw: < twinlark: <Penguincw> You have mistaken put Hao twice in your first round draw prediction. Svidler's opponent will be Hammer.

<Ohio> In case he misses this, I'm sure there's no doubt he meant Hammer. >

Yikes! And for the record, yes I mean Hammer.

Not sure if it matters, but I'll just repost with that one name change:

Round 1:

Carlsen-Topalov 1-0 36
Anand-Aronian 1/2-1/2 35
Nakamura-Hao 1-0 41
Svidler-Hammer 1/2-1/2 38
Karjakin-Radjabov 1/2-1/2 27

And for the next round

Round 2:

Carlsen - Anand 1/2-1/2 33
Topalov - Radjabov 1/2-1/2 29
Aronian - Nakamura 1-0 36
Wang - Svidler 1/2-1/2 35
