<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

One thing I like about this contest is that one good round can put you right in the lead. I am pretty sure people have scored over 30 points in a single round.

Been done a few times <OCF> if I remember right.

Agreed. However, I'm probably going to need 2 big rounds to make up for what I loss and try to earn some medals. This may sound a bit selfish, but I've scored 1 point in the last 4 rounds. ONE point in the last FOUR rounds.

How to read it?

Well, for instance <OCF> could say something like this: "Great, I knew Leko´s drawish record would give me an edge, yep, right now for all the games which he has been involved in, I got the biggest contribution with 20 points, that is 34% of the 58 points I earned. In the other hand, after 7 rounds, all the games involucrating Adams, resulted in the worst contribution to my score: just 3 points, that is only a 5%??.

Well, this guy <GE> did not post the contributions of the german players to my score, but I know they are doing fine for me."

Aug-03-13  WinKing: That's interesting <GE>. I guess I'll have to get GM Meier a fruit cake for Christmas while GM Andreikin gets coal in his stocking.

You would think that GM's who draw a lot would be the ones that comprise the greatest part of our scores points wise(& they do for the most part). Seeing as draws are the majority of our picks. Leko, Fridman & Meier are known for drawing a fair amount of their games. While on the other hand Adams, Andreikin & Naiditsch are known more for their aggressive fighting styles of chess. As a result more of their games are decisive for better or worse.(These are my opinions of these players)

Hey <GE> your going to have to start picking GM Leko to draw a little more. Or if you are picking him to draw go a little higher with the number of moves you pick. He has been in games with 40 moves or higher in 4 of his 6 draws so far in this tournament. GM Andreikin & GM Caruana have totally messed me up in this prediction contest. I have no idea how to predict their games anymore.

OhioChessFan: <GE> the dynamics of this game are interesting. I knew I had underestimated Adams by far, and am still kicking myself for picking a Leko win in round 1, what was I thinking, and yeah, I expected a lot of draws from him. OTOH, I have a lot of overs, a couple of the dreaded one move overs, and that also impacts the score along with the game results. I really enjoy the tension of it even though many people shy away from this contest because it seems too complicated.
